MrWilli: I gotta ask something what is you favorite class on the vanilla version of the game?
I personally like the fighter right now, easy to use and I don't die a lot (or not as much as my cleric however that is getting better...I still what more offensive magic for my cleric and where do you get the Hammer of the Gods spell?)

My favorite is Bard. But I usually grab 4 level of FTR as well (one level at character level 2, then the other three at levels 18 through 20).
Hammer of the Gods is a tier 4 Cleric spell, so you get access to it at Cleric level 7.
Along with what Luned suggested for Domain choices, I'd also suggest Trickery for the awesomeness that is the Improved Invisibility spell, Travel for the Haste spell, Strength for Stoneskin and a double helping of Divine Power and even Plant for the Barkskin spell. Any of those are good choices, but I almost always go with Trickery and either Travel or Strength. With the Strength domain, you get access to Divine Power as a level 3 and a level 4 spell and if you take Silent Spell, Still Spell, or Extend Spell (and you should take at least one of those feats), you can end up with a ton of castings.
Thanks for responding to my question; sorry if I sounded rude not trying to help but i got nothing. Anyways I stopped playing Siege of Shadowdale module last night; got too tough
:( o I started a character in The Peasant module, a half-elven barbarian and I must saw I'm just slaughtering through it.
*Spoiler*
At the goblin lair, Pit is kicking butt. Which is surprising for a little kid armed with a old hunting knife. Damn goblins suck at fighting. Plan on exporting this character to Neverwinter Nights chapter 1 and restart the sotry from there.
Also thanks for telling me when I get Hammer of the Gods, I want to make offensive cleric so I might throw in some Red Dragon Disciple levels in with it.

RDD requires at least one level of Sorcerer or Bard and 8 ranks invested in Lore. I'd advise going straight Cleric and playing it as a buffed Fighter. Use spells like Bull's Strength, Endurance, Bless, Divine Power, Divine Might, your protection spells (Stoneskin, Improved Invis, Magic Vestment, etc.) and wade in swinging. Clerics are awesome forces to be reckoned with if you play them this way.
*edit* Maybe add a level of Fighter to get the extra feat and weapon proficiencies, but I'd go mostly pure Cleric.

I haven't played the NWN series much (I am a HUGE Icewind Dale fan) but my friends always talked about Druids who multi-class into fighters. Heavy armor+the vine spell.
Yeah, Druids are apparently quite powerful as well, but I never played one, as I'm not a fan of the Druid class. Of course, I'm not that big a fan of Clerics either, but I have played a few of them. I believe Clerics have more buff spells, while the Druid has more offense-oriented magic.
*edit* Oh, and add to it the fact that Clerics get an extra spell slot and extra spells from Domains, and they have an edge there.

I always have thought that Druids magic type is of the "Gonna piss you off" category. Such as the roots and the summons/spirit forms.
Druids are fairly weak early one, but can deal some serious whoop-ass once they get going, you get wild shape at level 5 and you can choose from a few animals , also said animal's improve as you get more levels.
Then, if you are powergaming you get Elemental Shape at level 15 or 16, i don't remember exactly, and after that you get Elder Elementals to choose from at level 20. After that nothing can stop you. You can drop everything you got, armor, weapons, anything and play naked if you want. Just make sure you rest every few hours because you only get a few castings every day, depending on how many levels you have.
This thread got me thinking, i don't think i ever played a Monk character, you know, no weapons/armor at all from the beginning. Any of you guys have any experience with one? Any Race/Kit that would make things interesting? How are they once they hit epic levels?

Well I'm still going goinghead first into my play, I'll just smack a level into there and go on with that build.
I say go human with pure unarmed skill, but then I again I don't really like monk for some reason.

I could never stand the Monk class, so never played one. That being said, they have their drawbacks (low BAB), but you can really make an effective one if you grab either a few levels of Cleric (get Divine Power and a Haste item or spell, and you're rocking with up to 12 attacks per round) and/or 4 levels of FTR before level 20 (to max your attacks per round) and go with dual kamas, and you can become a virtual blender on crack. With the speed boost you get every 3 levels, you'll never have to worry about the mobs catching you.
I have been looking through the manual and still cannot find a way to build a monk the way i like it, i think i'm going to have to take some cleric levels like Coelocanth said instead of going pure Monk. I know i can get a Haste item early in chapter one of the main campaign, then i'm going to see if i can cheat my way to HOTU and rampage through Undermountain in order to gain levels and artifacts. The manual says that the level cap for HOTU is 40!. That is so beyond epic levels is not even funny.
I think i'm going to call this guy Jackie.
Wish me luck.
Edit: Godfuckingdamnit, i hate elves! They never shut up!

HotU does raise the level cap to 40, but be aware that you'll reach 'only' level 27 or 28 by the end of the campaign. Plan accordingly.
Err...okay I need help here. I got CEP version 2.3, without the previous CEPs, and its says I am missing custom talk table files...I made a custom file talk so what should I do?

What are the exact file names it says you're missing?
*edit* Oh, and what module are you trying to play? Maybe there are custom haks you need for it as well.

And Eye of the Serpent and The Aielund Saga Chapter
Post edited April 25, 2010 by MrWilli
I believe all of those should have come with your CEP install. I'd recommend grabbing the CEP Updater. You can get it Here, second last in the DL list. Run that and it should grab/update anything you don't have. If that doesn't work, post back, and I'll see if I can get you some links to what you need.
I don't know about the first module, but the Aielund modules have their own haks, so make sure you have those installed as well.
