Well since I don't really see anything about this game series I decided to start something about it. You can talk about pretty much anything about the series and well...you get the idea.
Anyways I'll start off by saying does anyone know if there is still anyone playing multiplayer because between retarded A.I. (can't find a mod the lets me control them) and sucky OC I want to get the most bang out of this game as I possibly can.
Plus how the do you open a .rar file because I'm trying to play a mod but I can't open a dang .rar file.
Also my I suggest Bloodstone module it is really good from what I've played, the only part I hate was the whole resurrection (the original original campaign spoiled me) but besides that I like it. An Ancient Heart I'm not to sure on it has its ups and downs; average but better than OC. Haven't tried The Peasant yet. But I REALLY need to reinstall the neverwinter nights installer (or get new one) because it corrupt and I want to play the Shadowlords, Dreamcatcher, and Demon campaigns.

I have Diamond, but never played 2 or any modules. I really LOVE this game however and I wish I played it more. This has always been one of my favorites. How is Icewind Dale? I heard it was similar...

Haven't played that either but wan to. Also solved my own problem I found the applications called NWN installer by TN220 so I don't have to worry about .rar files anymore!

Henchmen AI: Honestly, NWN isn't difficult enough to need to micromanage. That being said, starting in Shadows of Undrentide you have a lot more control over their AI. If you want more control than that, get NWN2.
Good Modules: The AL series. The first one is pretty rough, but the second has some amazing NPCs, and the third sets things up for the eventual fourth.

You should definitely check Icewind Dale out if you've enjoyed Never Winter Nights, the graphics are dated by comparison but in their defence they are a very artistic and pleasant 2D visuals even by today's standards, the dialogue is nowhere near as hefty as NWN but this is due to Icewind Dale being a hack and slash dungeon epic as opposed to a free world exploration RPG.
It's different but in the best way possible, it's also polished to perfection and features and expansion set that adds a lot to the game and ramps up the difficulty if you're looking for an extra challenge :)
Really, a game worthy of addition to anyone's collection.
(The sequel isn't as good I feel, has the stranger, more up to date D&D ruleset which I'm not too fond of but it's a good game all the same)

I'm certain that I spent more time over the last six or so years playing Neverwinter Nights than I have any two other games combined. There are about 1200 people playing Neverwinter Nights online as I type this message. There are several persistent worlds that are still fairly to heavily populated, as well as a load of them that are far more sporadic in their activity. Some people still play DMed campaigns, but you have to look for them. Some PW's have such campaigns anyway.
A lot of the single player modules are considerably better than the OC. Hordes of the Underdark was definitely the best of the OC's, but there were still quite a few mods that were even better.
Neverwinter Nights 2 never achieved anywhere near the popularity from a multiplayer standpoint. Basically, by the time Obsidian "fixed" multiplayer, they'd already missed the boat. Neverwinter Nights 2 does have a party-based control system (closer to the older BG games). In some ways, it can make for a better single player experience.

I've seen that, that is why I wanted the .rar file thing. Well anyways gtg to bed soon science chapter test tomorrow (veterbrates, one of the more easy to learn phylum's) also I know NWN isn't a real mircomanager game type but I usually play a support character well..you get the idea, when Vino, my arcane archer needs healing or heavy support I kinda need Linu to do her thing which she sometime doesn't. Also her attacking the wrong enemy gets really annoying afte a while.

It's weird to see this topic come up this week because I'm currently working my way through the module creator.
Though I'm sure it's out of date, I decided to get the "Official World Builder Guide."
I need to find a good "C for Dummies" book or something. I used to be good with computers but then I got a social science degree and moved on to literature.
Now, I can't make sense of any of this coding stuff. Any advice?

I'm liking Diamond mostly because of the story adventury side than anything else. The combat is truly despairing at times. I get to scream at my guy "swing your damn sword dammit!" when the enemy hits him twice or thrice and he's just standing there waiting his turn and getting his health bar depleted.
I finished Vainilla with a barbarian and am now doing Undrentide with a druid. Having to control a bunch of guys following you around gets annoying at times when their Ai is not exactly the best at moving around the map.
So far the experience has been interesting, but i feel like I'm playing it just to finish it and say i did so. I don't see myself playing it further after I'm done with Underdark.

I enjoyed Neverwinter Nights 1 (plain vanilla version) and Neverwinter Nights 2.
Recently, I have managed to get hold of the entire Neverwinter Nights 2 and its expansion for less than USD10.00. I will be replaying Neverwinter Nights 2 soon after I am done with Dragon Age Origins - Awakening and The Witcher.

Try checking out the NWN Lexicon. The Lyceum tab has links to a basic scripting primer and tutorials.
MrWilli: check out Tony K's Henchman Inventory and Battle AI Mod for improved AI (both for your companions and for the mobs).
While you're there, grab the CEP (many modules require it). Some recommendations for modules to check out:

Tragedy in Tragidor
Torslunda
Darkness Over Daggerford

I have Diamond. Beat main campaign three times, beat SoU twice, beat HotU once. In the middle of the second HotU playthrough, got distracted by my humongous games backlog. I plan to get back to my Paladin eventually....
