So am I.

Rohan15: Yeah, I just read the Arx Fatalis review on gamespot, and it sounds amazing. demo first as always. =) AS for UT2004, I need to play with my mouse BEFORE I buy, because it runs perfectly yet aiming is a bitch with a mousepad.

The user reviews here are a better source than Gamespot. :P
Corrupt motherfuckers.
Maybe the problem is you're supposed to aim with the mouse and not the mousepad. :P
And no, it's much, much better -- just takes time to get used to.
I'm throwing a vote in for Arx Fatalis. It seems a bit on the small side in scale as well as in duration, and it had a strong tendency to crash, but apart from that it's actually a fairly impressive game.
And I'd agree that Duke Nukem is probably more for nostalgia at this point. Still a good game, especially with the highresmods, but it hasn't aged all that well imo and I can't put my finger on why that is. But if you're looking for a challenging game, this might be it.

Rohan15: It can be a game recommendation other than these ones, as long as it has HIGH replay value/mods/ultra violent...

You won't get much better value for your money than UT2004, then. The replay value is basically infinite. You have your choice of bots or real players for opponents. You have access to a metric fuckton of extra content, meaning skins, models, maps, gametypes, mutators, vehicles, full-fledged mods, etc., and all completely free.

Rohan15: Okay, I'm atm downloading Kingpin, Unreal Tournament 2004, Duke Nukem 3D, and have taken an interest in Gorky17 and Arx Fatalis. I have around 20Bucks to spend (I can go over) and want to know...which of these games are good? I might buy 3 out of 5 if persuaded.

Depends on what you played before. If you never played Duke, the you hould start out with that. But if you have, then go with either Gorky 17 or ARX. Personally i dont like Kingping, but HEY! it may just be me.
Arx is fine but I can't see those damn torches I have to light in the hallway with the rats. Any other recommendations that are not on here?
my general rule of thumb, that if there is no question that you should buy the game, then buy it, but if there is question, just don't buy it, save your money for the day that special game comes out and buy that game.

Well, I made the rule that since UT2004 ass online play and I dont have to pay for shit in like in MMOFPS games, I am going to get it. Can get one or 2 more games in my cart. Anyone? IS septerra core any good?

I can't argue with that.
Kingpin and Duke 3D have a certain appeal but you can't beat UT for FPS goodness. Well, maybe Quake 3 Arena. But given the free Quake Live there's no need.
You may also want to take a look at Giants, which is a great game that has a first person mode.

haven't played septerra... I'm personally not that big of a fan of Arx. I bought it, played it like halfway, and sorta just lost interest. The world is too... dead. Don't know why, I'm a big RPG fan but it just didn't appeal to me. I did love gothic 1 and 2 though. Sacrifice is also awesome, if you like real time strategy mixed in with a bit of 3rd person perspective rather than god like view. Beyond Good and Evil is pretty fun as well, basically a 3rd person adventure game.
WEll, I am probably go For UT2004 and a random game (Maybe Arx...Could be Ghost Recon.). Are the Gothic games any good? I heard the controls SUCK.

It's alright. If you like Japanese-style RPGs you could do worse, but it's not exceptional. I think I would have liked it better if the combat were more interesting.

I love Septerra, personally. If you're into console-style JRPGs, you should like it. I find it different and fun..has all the elements. Only thing I dislike about it is there are like, four NPC models in the entire game which are just recycled in various configurations. REALLY annoying. But whatever. :)
Note there's an audio glitch if you're playing on Vista or 7 which makes the game pretty much unplayable -- dialogue skips for long (or short, I can't remember) sentences.
GOG is still working on it apparently, but I don't see it getting fixed.

Might Buy Gothic 1 or 2. But I need advice....
1) How bad is the control scheme?
2) Will it attach itself to me like Morrowind did for 15 good months?
3) How difficult are the monsters, cause i like to snipe and be the thief. Can I be easily detected?

Controls in first game are very very..different. Hard to get the hang of. But when you do you're good. II's are improved. Games are classic. Play them in order.
