Talking about Dracula, there's this book called Carmilla, I think (at least it is about a lesbian vampire named Carmilla). As far as Wikipedia tells me, Dracula was inspired in it.

Has she read the House of Night series by P.C. Cast and Kristin Cast? That's a possibility. There's also the Nightworld series by L.J. Smith as well as the Vampire Diaries by the same author. You could consider the Sookie Stackhouse books by Charlaine Harris as well (the series True Blood is based on these books).
Kelly Armstrong and Laurell K. Hamilton are also popular authors that deal with the paranormal.
I've not read any of the above but we sell a ton of them in the bookstore where I work. I HAVE, however, read the Mortal Instruments trilogy by Cassandra Clare and I quite enjoyed it. Not vampire-centric, but there are vampires (and werewolves, and demons and warlocks, etc.) in it. Actually, I've read the first couple of Hamilton's Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter novels and they were fairly good. A buddy of mine loved them, but he says the later ones are not as good.
