Hi my wife took a video of our childs play. Now we have it home trying to burn it to the IO magic drive. When I connect the drive into a usb port. And I tried it all. It is not being recognized.

I tried a memory stick and it is working. So I know the usb ports are working. But the IO magic drive not being recognized.

Man we only used it once like 6 monthes ago. Any suggestions on why it is not recognizing the drive.

Thanks...

It would have been nice if you'd specified that we're talking about a USB External CD/RW drive...

Anyway - have you tried replacing the USB cable? A simple reboot? Have you tried hooking it up to another computer? Failing that, it's likely that the drive itself may be busted.

Yes sorry it is the external drive you mentioned. Cant try on another computer at moment due to only have one computer. It might be the usb cable. But do you think other appliances in the home might have same usb cable? Maybe I check my closet. Man this stinks....

Thanks...

If it takes a standard USB mini/micro cable you may already have one for your digital camera, mobile phone, external hard drive or other such devices. Anything that fits will work. Failing that a new one is cheap enough (NewEgg has them for around $5 including free shipping). Note that USB micro and mini are physically incompatible with each other so if you need to order something you'll want to make sure you're getting the right one.

If it uses some sort of proprietary cable you'd probably need to contact the manufacturer or original supplier regarding a replacement.
