I used to watch this one anime where the MC has a pair of robot ears but I am unsure to whether is he a human or robot. The female MC has a purple hair and is actually a robot , I think her purpose was to be a spy. They both love each other in the later episodes. In one of the later episodes, a female commander (short hair?) who support them got caught up by her underlings. She snap off her ID card saying she is no longer their superiors. They all also snap off their cards and assure their loyalty to her.

I think I watched it around the 2000s and its definately not released in the late 2000s

Does anyone knows about this anime?

Too much, besides I forget her eye colour.
Hm ... Robot, purple hair, late 90's or early 2000's ... First thing that comes to my mind is Nuku Nuku.
It has to be Samurai Pizza Cats.
How did you see this? Was it something you watched on television? If so, do you remember what channel it aired on?

Also, can you think of something else you might have been watching around the same time that might help narrow down the release date?

I saw it on malaysian tv during friday slot... the artstyle made MC looks a little shota, thus everyone is short. The female MC has a quite shoujo look (very beautiful , her hair is around waist)

Also its about sci fi set at future. I mentioned the girl being a spy so there are some action going on. I remembered her trying to escaping in a corridor and got injured by the guns on the wall. Also got a militia of some sort involved.

Smannesman: It has to be Samurai Pizza Cats.
Its about sci fi with robots, nothing with moe samurai, besides the anime I mentioned, the characters dont have the chibi artstyle.

Well technically SPC also has robots and such, but I catch your drift.
I guess it's also not The Big O or S-Cry-Ed then.

I doubt there was that much plot in Catgirl Nuku Nuku, at least not that I can remember. Perhaps the enemy he's thinking of is the mother and her forces? Does fit the robot ears and purple hair though.

With robots? Macross perhaps, those have some virtual/robo girls I think. Robotech perhaps?

Just ruling out the major one; you're not thinking of Ghost in the Shell, right?

She had short hair I think
Possibly Shinsei Kiden Mars, aka Mars: The Terminator?

Nope, the artstyle is more cartoon than real and characters are shorter than they are supposed too.

OMG. Did they show the Lamune & 40's on Malasian TV? I bet those dubs were hilarious if they were done in English! Love that series, though I'd have to say that Milk (the pink haired one) is clearly the LI in the first series. Although in Fire, Lamuness III does kind of like one of the androids (Drum, the white/blue haired one). It's definitely not even remotely a spy show, though.
