I don't have a whole lot to go on, but I figured it was worth a shot...

From what I can remember...

- It's an RPG.
- It's 2D.
- It has a B&W, with some red, style that's similar to MadWorld.
- I think it had something to do with a vampire or something.

I remember seeing it on Desura and going "Oh, cool. I've seen this before. I should get it some time." but I didn't have money at the time, or something like that. And now, conveniently, I can't find it anywhere. Kind of making me wonder if I didn't just imagine it. >.>

Sorry that the details are so flimsy. I figured they're rather distinguishing features, but even so, I can't find it anywhere.

Perhaps an obvious one, but maybe Vampire:Redemption? It's not really 'black and white', but certainly very grey in the opening sections. Also, maybe the follow-up, Bloodlines?

Nah. IIRC, it was very distinctly 2D. I should add that to the main post.
Hm. Well, do you recall roughly what year it would have been released, maybe? How important was the Vampire in the story? Was it top-down 2D, side-on 2D, or some kind of forced-perspective isometric thing?

Top-down, IIRC.

Dunno how important the vampire thing is. I just remember a standout thing being blood, and either being something about murders, vampires, or perhaps both.

I think the plot was mostly centered around a single village/town/city.

Bleh. Not sure I remember much more than that.

EDIT: Dunno when it was originally released, but I could swear I saw it release on Desura this year, despite going through all of the games on there from this year several times over.

EDIT2: And IIRC, it coming to Desura was a big deal. Either it was finally available somewhere it wasn't or it was translated or...something. Gah, can't remember. :/

Hmm..... Dreamweb was top-down and grey-ish, but I don't recall a vampire. BloodNet turned it's backdrops black-and-white during conversations and featured vampires, but was side-on 2D rather than top-down....
I second BloodNet. It seems like a right guess.
I'm pretty sure it's not an older game. I think the earliest I'd place it is 2004 or 2005, but it's more likely that it was completed only as early as 2008. If that helps.

A top-down 2D rpg from 2008? You'd be looking at an Indie then, rather than an old classic.... I'm not too hot on the indies like Avernum and Geneforge, so couldn't really speak for them...
Ha-HA!

After an hour of Googling, I have found it! It's Rainblood: Town of Death.

It's not black and white, so I got that completely wrong. It does, however, seem to use a lot of similar tones throughout a lot of the game, and is stylized to sort of look like a comic book, so I guess that's where that confusion came from.

Apparently it wasn't a vampire either, but after reading the name, I sort of see where I got that misconception.

And it was translated when I found it.

And it's free. Wonder why I never downloaded it. -shrug- Well, now I can.

EDIT: Or...maybe it's not free? http://www.gamersgate.com/DD-RTD/rainblood-town-of-death

But...there's a "full version" download on ModDB... >.>

I'm confused now.

EDIT2: Ah. It isn't free. It does cost money. The ModDB one is like a beta or something.

Let's sum that up

it's not black and white
it doesn't have a top down perspective

As usual, the biggest obstacle of finding a game is our memory :P
That was the exact same game I thought of when I started reading the thread! But just like you I wouldn't have remembered the name, so I'm very glad you already solved it and spared me the hour of googling just to get that tormenting thought of "Damn, I remember this game, what the hell was it called again" out of my head. :D

Yeah, I kicked myself several times over after finding it. >.> I only found it because I happened to remember that "rain" was in the name, and I'd already known that "blood" was a big part of it, so I just put the two together and bam. There it was. :P

Haha, glad I could help.
