Wing Commander Saga bundle is on 80% sale (Several people recommended it).

What's the best payment option? There are no paysafecard outlets in my area (I checked the paysafecard outlet finder and the search results were wrong, linking to stores that did not exist), GOG doesn't accept any of my credit cards, and I'm not setting up a PayPal account just for GOG payments.

I also heard that Visa prepaid cards can't be used for international purchases in the U.S.

I'm surprised that I haven't received much help figuring this out. I would like to support GOG, and yet I never receive any significant help figuring out the payment.

Contact support. Contact visa/masterprepaid sellers to confirm whether you can use them or not (i'd be surprised if they were all the same - most here allow international purchases - use a prepaid mastercard occasionally). GOG doesnt accept your credit cards?.
I think with Paypal you dont even need to set one up (unless things have changed) - there is an option for one off payments i think? (havent used it for a while) - there is an option after checkout "Pay with a credit or debit card" (2nd option on the paypal page it redirects you to from the GOG checkout for payment) use that for one off payments without setting up a paypal account

Does gog not accept them or is your bank rejecting the payment because of gog's location?

GOG only accepts Visa, Mastercard, and American Express credit cards - I have none of those. And no, I'm not going to register for a new credit card just for this.

I'm looking for a hassle-free payment option. Preferably a prepaid card option that actually works.

Paypal pretty much *is* the best option. I use it almost exclusively for GOG and see no problem with it. It's linked directly to my bank account and I have only ever had 1 problem in using it with GOG, which was sorted out very quickly.

I'm surprised I haven't received more support for improved payment options. A few months ago I made a GOG Wishlist suggestion for a real prepaid card option in the U.S.A. and it largely got ignored. It's probably sitting somewhere at the bottom of the list collecting dust and covered in cobwebs.

IMO, a GOG prepaid card option in the U.S.A. (not PaySafeCard, but actual GOG cards) would be a big win for GOG. There are plenty of people who aren't comfortable with making online payments with a credit card, and there are plenty more customers that GOG could have if they would supported prepaid cards that are generally available and supported in the U.S.A.

Just as an example: Recently, my sister was planning to buy a bunch of games from Steam once their winter sale started. Some of those games were available DRM-free on Amazon's digital distribution service (similar to GOG, except that Amazon also allows games that come with additional DRM and provides a list of included DRMs on the game's store page). So I asked "why are you buying them on Steam when you can buy them DRM-free from Amazon?". My sister said that she doesn't like using a credit card for online payments and would rather just buy games on Steam with a prepaid card.

Currently, with the limited payment options, GOG is missing out on revenue from people like me (who have none of the supported credit cards) and my sister (who would rather simplify purchases with prepaid cards and avoid having to use a credit card).

Well, I usually use a paysafecard for buying games on Gog, so I do understand where you're coming from (I have used my credit card every now and then, but dislike using it for "micro-purchases").

As far as a Gog-card is concerned, I don't think it's going to happen. Are there a lot of problems connected to using a paysafecard in the US? I thought the problems were all related to actually finding a place that sells them?
I don't believe demand for a gog-only prepaid card would be so high that it would be worth the trouble for Gog, nor do I think it could be made available everywhere... I might be wrong about this, but looking at the community wishlist tells me I'm probably not...

Maybe there will be a more suitable payment option for you once the store credit is fully implemented?

I was not aware that there were other credit cards companies in North America, I've never seen a sign or advertisement for any other. I use a prepaid Visa card for all my internet purchases, $3 a month + $3 per reload = Peace of Mind.

You don't have to set up a Paypal account to use Paypal, I have to use it because my card is Discover which GOG doesn't accept. I just enter my info when I buy and use the Paypal option without making an account. This is the best way of doing it.

GOG has no store credit system yet? Ok, that explains it.

I know Steam has a store credit system (Steam Wallet, Steam Bucks, etc), which is why they have much better prepaid card support. Buy a prepaid card, enter the code, receive appropriate amount of store credit.

Perhaps I should just wait for GOG to set up their own store credit system.

I had a similar problem. I don't mind using paypal with my credit card ( i have a low-limit credit card I use for online purchases), but I don't want to trust them with my whole bank account.

Paysafecard was my solution, but I wish they'd let me purchase a pin online through paypal or something. My problem is my bank refuses transactions with GoG now because of the location. Since paysafecard doesn't even have a physical card, I don't see why they don't do this, unless it's just the principle of the thing (no credit card information online whatsover).

Yeah, I wouldn't risk it. I'm lucky enough to have a gas station really close to my house, but it would be convenient to purchase online. It would also fix this OP's problem. I feel the OP's pain, because before discovering paysafecard was available to me, I thought my days of buying from GoG.com had come to an end.
