I'd like to change my hosting provider from Serbian one to some Euro/US so I'd like to ask you denizens of GOG what do you think, any positive/negative experiences with some providers? Do you have any company to recommend?
Thank you very much in advance :)

anyone? oO
Well, the only one I recommend is Linode, but they only deal with VPS and you'll have to sort out domain registration, etc., through someone else. So if you're not wanting a VPS, they're not really going to be of any use to you.

However, I would strongly recommend you to avoid Netfirms. I had no end of trouble with them over the last 6 months or so that I was using them for hosting.

domo arigato ;) I don't need VPS atm, just mail+site hosting on a linux platform, but I'll take your advice and avoid netfirms :)
GoDaddy is said to be decent, but I have no personal experience with them.

looking at their offer and it looks good, they have 50/50% of good and bad reviews. Did anyone have some personal experience with them? One big thanks for all the people who answered so far, you are helping me with all this advice :)
Take a look at (haven't tried them personally, sorry) http://www.arvixe.com/.

GoDaddy is OK when it comes to domains but the hosting end is shit, and support is inexistent. The domain manager is also kind of crap if you want to change MX records and the like, needing a lot of clicks to go somewhere.

I'm hosting most of my crap on HostSo which is both cheap and support has been awesome so far with no downtime for the period I've been with them (around 3 years I think); they even opened up ports for me to use on the basic package, a thing which the guys at GoDaddy never even bothered to reply to.

Would you mind to be a bit more specific?
What specifications would you require and what kind of budget (rough estimate) are you planning to use?

email is mission critical, and 3-5 adresses will be used in a small office to keep contact with company's customers. Site hosting should be simple, just a page that will use CMS for updates, news and important info, again targeted to customers of this company, so it is a small time operation that needs mails that are not on black lists and a 99,9% reliability for uptime of mail/site which won't be complex. But I'd like total control of my dns zone and email accounts, I'll need up to 100 megs of space for an account and ability to recieve mails which are up to 20 megs in size.
I think that's it :)

For the email I seriously recommend looking into Google Apps as it beats the pants off of any email service hosts offer.
I think that using google apps would seriously piss of one of my partners XD

It might, but trust me when I tell you that there isn't anything that comes close to it, especially at that price. If you want to pay for dedicated email (as in just email) you should go with a hosted Microsoft Exchange server.
