Blame Kazuya. We sent him a pic of me, he made an excellent set of STIs for use in JA2, so I can actually play with myself :P

lowyhong: Guys, Filthgrinder just said that HOMM3 didn't work out for him and his buddies.

Fenixp: Oh, that's right... Battle for Wesnoth and Age of Wonders all the way! I would actually suggest AoW: Shadow Magic for multiplayer, it's much more polished.

It is more balanced, but I find AoW 1 to be more charming in its presentation, and hero building is also more fun in AoW 1, as you are given far more options (though there is always the problem with heroes getting too good)

AFnord: Age of Wonders is a great hot-seat & LAN game (and there are a lot of user made maps out there, which can make it a game that will last an eternity). I actually find AoW 1 to be significantly better than HoMM, in particular in multiplayer.
I second this, also there seems to a resonably active MP community here on GOG.
Age of Wonders 2 or Shadow Magic looks nice, and a bit more user-friendly than Heroes3.

I will mention them on Monday.

Question, can you save your multiplayer game? Or must everyone remain connected at all times?

? I'd say the exact opposite, but to each their own. *shrug*

NO! Stop! AoW 2 is the least user-friendly in the series. Consider getting either AoW1 or SM instead.

SM allows to save MP games (I'm not sure about AoW1 though), and there's also an option for play-by-mail games.
Poxnora is cool http://store.steampowered.com/app/201210/
Single player, and multi (maps 2vs2 etc)
Most runes(cards) can be buyed for in game curency (gold)

AoW 1 allows you to save MP games as well

It's definitely much less user friendly than HoMaM III. Waaaay less. And get shadow magic, it's basically AoW 2 on steroids.

Well, Heroes3 had no tutorial, no tooltips etc. The graphics were pretty "big" making it a bit painful to play on a 23".

AoW:Shadow Magic has a bit higher rez. Tooptips, and a tutorial.
