Maybe anyone who posts in this thread will lose rep points.
..oh damn, wait.
it's probably that they just don't count negative markers until site updates.
I would think that might be the case if it wasn't for the fact that it always seems to be multiples of 10 points lost. Those numbers seem too "round" to be simply caused by negative votes. Besides, I certainly pissed off at least as many people last month as I did this month, but I didn't lose anything last month.
Just to add to the oddness, I've regained a point today and it wasn't the normal "1 point for each day you post", I already got that earlier.

Actually I lost slightly over 20 last month and 18 this month so they don't appear to be in tens, at least not in my case.
It would be nice to know how the negative point system works and what stops people from just voting down every post of someones assuming they have some sort of vendetta against them. Not saying its the case but I'm curious as to what would happen if someone did actually vote 1 persons post down everytime they posted. Do you need more then a single negative vote per post to get minus rep or do they accumulate over the all of your posts?

I just lost 2. Not a multiple of 10.
I know balancing the books is part of what's going on. My rep's been in error a couple of times (once not credited for posts marked as solutions, once credited too many times), and the update corrected it.
The multiple of ten thing is suspicious, but keep in mind, does anyone besides the GOGMasters really know how much a +/- vote is worth?
For example, it could be that:
0 to 4 minus votes = lose that amount of rep
5 to 10 minus votes = lose 10 rep
10 to 20 minus votes = lose 20 rep
etc...
In which case, if you can consistently piss off 5 or more people with a single post, you'd lose a multiple of 10, regardless of what the actual number of minus votes are...
upon review it appears that I did lose, one point of rep.

I hope it's not so, think about it: You post a slightly rough comment about of some game's worst issues then some fanboy gets hurts and hunts all your posts down and negs them.

Yes.... suspicious that...

Well yeah, that was just a quick example with no basis in reality :) The point was, +/- voting could well be using some kind of tennis scoring that leads to multiples of ten showing up more often.
It may also be a statistical artifact due to the small sample size. If we had more data, things might look a little more evenly distributed.
It could also be that minuses aren't counted until you have enough to lose 10 rep, but pluses always are. And if people are more likely to minus than plus, you'd see more tens than anything.
The thing is a complete black box. It isn't possible to do a controlled experiment on it, so nothing short of a divine revelation will sort it out. And the GOGs are silent.
In conclusion, meh.
The GOG dudes refresh the rep count list, and that will cause you to suddenly lose or even gain rep for some reason. Meh, not too bothered. It's not a race.
I don't really get the hype around the reputation system...

You're only saying that because you're not going to win!
