I love the site, but lately I have been let down. It's really not GOG's fault--it has more to do with my own tastes and with the fact that I have a large game collection, but it is still frustrating. I wondered if anyone else has experienced this:
Tuesday-
Refresh. Refresh. Reflesh.
"Crap! I already own this!" or "Crap! This game is crap!"
I sigh with disspaointment while my wallet cheers
Thursday
Refresh. Refresh. Reflesh.
"Crap! I already own this!" or "Crap! This game is crap!"
I sigh with disspaointment while my wallet cheers more loudly.
Friday
Refresh. Refresh. Reflesh.
"Crap! I already bought the sale game from GOG!" or "Crap! The sale game is not on my wishlist!" or "Crap! The sale buddle adds too many uninteresting games!"
I sigh with disspaointment while my wallet is fat, happy and cheering wildly.
So I buy a game off the wishlist, which is somehow less satisfying than responding to a new release or sale.
There hasn't been a great deal released recently that is all that interesting to me. The Gabriel Knight games and Siberia and that's about it. As for the sales, I've been lucky with the past couple of sales. I think I'll wait for a sale on the Syberia games as it's possible to get them retail for about half that price.
But yes, I wait to see what Atari brings...
They have released betrayal at kronor! What more do you want!? ... Well I know I do want system shock, but still!?

BaK is an awesome release, and GOG does a great job. The problem is, I own the CD version. I'm really hoping for Outcast.
I just don't understand what people see to Outcast. It was at best mediocre when released, I don't get where it gets the good name from here at GOG forums.
As for the pattern. Well, considering I have played most of the games being released (I game heavily since the mid 80s), yeah I have or used to have most of these games (not necessarily for the PC). still, it is nice to get some of these gems running again after all these years, without problems. Don't forget that many of them, had problems running under DOS all the time. Having to free memory, etc etc.

My GOG pattern:
Tuesday - Do nothing until my cron job emails me. Then look to see what the new game is.
Thursday - Do nothing until my cron job emails me. Then look to see what the new game is.
Friday - Do nothing until my cron job emails me . Then check the email to see what the promo is.
Other than that, I buy perhaps 4 or so games from GOG per month on average. Either new releases or older ones I'm interested in. There are very few games that would get an instant purchase from me when released right now as I don't have a lot of time to play them.
Mine's more along the lines of:
Tuesday - check to see what game it is, OHFUKFUCKFFUUUUU INSTABUY. Wallet grabs my nuts and bitchslaps me. Add game to wishlist.
Thursday - check to see what game it is OSHIIIIIIIIII INSTABUY!!!!!! Wallet kicks me in the shins and bites my ankles. Add game to wishlist
Friday - check promo to see what games are there omggggggg ITS COMMANDOS DO WANT PL0X!!!! *looks at wallet* Yeah ok.....
My pattern is fire up the browser in the morning before the kids are up. Check several sites on separate tabs, GOG being one of them. On the way into the GOG forums, have a glance at what new games (if it's the right day) are up or what sales (if it's the right day) is offered. If it's a sale day, consider what's being offered. Order or not, according to need/desires. If it's a new release day, consider if I want the game. Then decide to wait a bit to see if it appears on sale later.
Proceed to forums. Open several interesting looking threads in more tabs. Once done reading what's of interest, move on to other sites. Return several times throughout the day.
I'm pretty much in the same boat as BrainCandy. Ever since the start of the year, all of the games are either games I already have that work without any issues on my machine (like Vampire Redemption) or games I really don't want (pretty much everything else). Another World was the one exception and I did get it, but it has so far been thrown on the pile of games I haven't yet had the time to play (it's a really big pile at the moment).

Well, you should consider yourself lucky that you can already play those classic games without GOG's help.

lmao.
Tuesday: Either 'wtf, is this game older than me?!' or 'Looks interesting.'
Thursday: Same as Tuesday.
Friday: ......I'll wait.
