I learned about GOG.com almost a full year ago. I was reading a gaming magazine and saw a little blurb about a website that was bringing back old games. I thought it'd be fun to remember how we found GOG and what we've been playing and buying.

I jumped online and bought Lords of the Realm. My bro and I played it for a few days before his computer died for a while. It was a good time as we re-enacted a scene from 10 years previous. (the scene of where I decimate his counties :D)

Since then, I've picked up Myst (that game is hard), Spellforce (a very very very long game -- enjoying so far), The Incredible Machine (still as good today as 10 years ago) and Fantasy Wars (still haven't played it yet).

I also was gifted Freedom Force: The 3rd Reich in a guess-the-number contest.

GOG.com gifted me with Jagged Alliance: Deadly Games. And I picked up the free Tyrian 2000 (an old favorite from my first Windows computer).

All the while, on the forums, I've been having a blast helping people out with their games, entering competitions (NWN module building one was the biggest and longest I worked on) and getting the word out to my friends.

I still have more to play. Some for nostagia. Some b/c I couldn't afford the game when it came out (I still remember paying $50 for Might and Magic titles). Some because they're still awesome all these years later. And some that I've just now found (like Spellforce).

So, what's your history? How and when did you find GOG? What games did you get? Did you like them? Are you having fun with any right now?

I forgot my GOG birthday.;( Frankly, i don't remember the exact date.

Being from Poland, i knew about GOG since appox. day 1. I didn't join because i wasn't a fan of digital distro [i'm still 'not loving it'].Mean Streets+Martian Memorandum giveaway made me join.

Since then i stroll around the forums using broken english, being completely misunderstood by some. Occasionally i win a game [once won quite a bunch of them]. Currently my shelf is a mix of stuff i love and hate. It's fun. ;P

Wish i could get a job, and spend all my earnings at GOG, just for the sake of support. It's kinda like Vegas.

The weird thing, is that i expected this place to be full of nostalgic people who loved the old games for their own reasons, and what i found was a company of people who still play a lot of modern titles. Though, it seems like a nice mix of different kinds here.

Yeah, i know, but that involves math. I'm with those who describe themselves in 3 words: "Not good at math".;) Besides it involves looking at the calendar, checking how many days 2010 had etc.. I'll settle with the Tex Murphy giveaway peroid. ;P

Seems it was the 20th of December. Got to remember that, and force my friends to buy me GOGs. Since i switched from "beers" to "gogs" in wagers, nobody wants to wage[r?] anymore.

Discover this website through mmorpg forum. It's amazing how word of mouth advertising really works so well. Someone brought up classic RPG and mentioned GoG having good prices so I check out this website and I've been steady customer ever since.

Chances are I joined on the day I made my first purchase, which was June 16, 2009. My first purchase? Fallout. :-) Since then I've gotten (and loved) Fallout 2 & Arcanum.

I also bought the Sierra adventures King's Quest & Space Quest, because I owned them back in the day...I still enjoy them, but more for the nostalgia.

I bought the Might & Magic 6-pack (again, I owned it years ago)...found 3-5 to be the bomb, with 1 & 2 being more difficult than I remembered. :-\

Also bought Temple of Elemental Evil, which I found very good but not entirely great. Loved the presentation, but even with the Co8 patch, it still felt like there could have been improvements.

I just started Feeble Files & King's Bounty, just to get a feel for them...not digging King's Bounty yet (but then, it took me a bit to warm up to & fall in love with Arcanum), but Feeble Files feels pretty comfy.

Right now I'm playing my personally owned Leisure Suit Larry series & loving it.

I found out about GOG while browsing an abandonware site, Home of the Underdogs, and I saw a banner ad for GOG. The good thing about the HotU site I was on (it had splintered into a few sites for reasons I never cared to learn) was that the moment they discovered a game was being offered for digital download, they'd remove it from their site...they'd leave up all the info about & the game, but they'd say "This game is available for purchase at [insert DD sites here]." I thought that was pretty classy.
