You see a dude killing people and [wrongly] call it murder. Then you're puzzled by people being apparently less upset by murder.

I explained to you how calling it murder is subjective. Also it is not the only example out there, this was just some dudes picture I quoted.
And why does it matter anyway, most people obviously think rape is still worse than murder, not just killing.

Not true. When a soldier dies in battle it's not murder, and nobody looks at it that way on either side.

Put it like this:

Would you rather be killed or raped?

If killed - you are no more, your murderer may be never caught and is free to do it again, your family/friends are in worst emotional pain

If raped - you are alive, your rapist will probably get caught with your help and hopefully never be able to commit rape again, your family/friends are happy that you are still alive

That said, penalties for murder and rape should be extreme. And I mean give-you-for-medical-research-experiments extreme. Human test subjects are so hard to come by... :)

Oh and you can't compare Rambo slaughter with rape. Rambo is killing people who are trying to kill him or his friends. It's not like he's just randomly killing people that walk by.

Nope. You might disagree, but the word murder means to intentionally kill somebody without cause.

The murderers would disagree as well, they usually have some cause.

A soldier voluntarily steps in a position that might involve armed combat which might result in the soldier dying. That's quite a different situation than the same soldier going home on a leave or retiring from army completely or even just chillin in the barracks in their free time and then for no reason the soldier gets killed by a nearby person, that's murder.

You say "we justify", which implies that you understand that people don't think about it as murder. So while you may think it is, you're the exception, you're the one making a new definition, using a word to mean something it doesn't.

They might have their own reason but it's not the "official" reason like a country declaring war on another country. In other words it's just more acceptable to kill enemy soldier in combat than to kill random dudes on streets just like that even if for example the voice in your head tells you to.

I don't see any analogy between ordinary murder and soldiers killing each other in a war.

Dead ist dead. The only emotion that is terrible are the ppl left behind. But they aren't shown often. But if, then I sometimes cry too when I see how they suffer from what was taken from them. Esp. when parents lose a child (which doesn't need to be a young one, can also be an adult one, fallen in a war).

It's all about emotion... empathy.

You can feel for the guy who shoots people, or feel for his victims... it all depends on the reasons behind it and your personal and taught morals and ethics (mostly based on the culture and not games).

But rape... seems a violent act without any excuse but very selfish ones, that most ppl cannot comprehend or agree with and thus are more disturbed. Also it is often displayed much more emotional than just shooting people.
Even more knowing the consequences of such acts of brute violence. Knowing what was done to that person... while the shot one is just dead.

In other countries murder, in a sort of vengeance, and rape, within marriage, may be justified or even more widely ignored than in the so-called better western countries.

Some time ago there was this woman in some African country who got raped by 7 men.
The woman, as well as the men, in question got all arrested for adultery and not for the violent crime and the woman had to fear death by stoning for that while the men got away with whippings.

Shoot them all, shoot them all death and be done with it. ;)

This just reminds me of the movie Irreversible. People were shocked and leaving the cinema because there is a 5 minutes rape scene in the movie.
