Well I figured out (using Nssi) that my sound card is a Sound Blaster Vibra 16 x PnP.
Does anyone know where I can find drivers for it?

A_Future_Pilot: Now one last thing and I'll stop bothering y'all. How can I figure out what sound card I have? I can't find any kind of system info thing. Maybe I'm just not looking hard enough :)

Glad you got it up and running nicely.
Open the box and note down all the text you may find on the card. Then do a web search for those random strings of letters and numbers.
There should be a 16-bit Explorer 5 or 5.5 on that Evolt browser archive linked to a few posts up, and I'm pretty sure that's the best browser Windows 3 can handle. Probably more demanding than Netscape 4 though.

Try this. Sounds like the same card as in Microsoft Virtual PC, which I also conveniently have archived drivers for.

Well I went to download that (Thanks a whole bunch btw!) but now Netscape Navigator says "An Error has occured" and when I hit ignore nothing happens, and when I hit close it says "Netscape caused a General Protection Fault in module Netscape.exe at 0002:8DC4."
Any idea why that is? Maybe it's just the browser and I need to get a different one. (hopefully :)

davidheinemann: Microsoft was still selling Windows 3.11 up until late 2008.

Note that this strictly was for the embedded version, which is intended for ATMs and cash registers and other special uses. It stopped being sold for normal PCs a long time ago, and extended support ended at the end of 2001.

OK it works!!! (Well mostly ;)
I installed it, and it works. When I started windows I heard a little sound, and I can change the volume and stuff with the mixer.
Now the only problem (and I don't know if I'll be able to fix this) is the game I want to play (Descent) says (HMI) 'Memory Allocation Failure' when I try to use it with sound. It runs fine without sound.
So if there's a fix for that much obliged!
And if not I'm still much obliged!!! :)

Edit: Sound driver install should have added appropriate entries for sound card already.

Hold I think F4 when booting to extend memory? I used to have to do that to play Doom. Although it could be F8. It's been a long time.

DEVICE=C:\Windows\EMM386.EXE NOEMS
FILES=30
STACKS=0,0
BUFFERS=20
If 3.11 runs a little flaky change FILES=30 to FILES=100

I have a question about Win 95.
I am thinking about cleaning up my ancient PC, fixing it up, to restore its glory once again. It ran Win 95. Does it need any floppies to boot or something?

Once installed, Win 95 will boot to the desktop. Win 3.11 required the WIN command be added to the autoexec.bat but it too would boot to desktop once installed. It would be great if you could dig up a copy of Win 98 SE since it ran much better than Win 95.

I meant, boot for format... Do I need to use floppies to format it, or just burn the OS image to a CD and then format like it is done today?
Also, the PC has like AMD +200 or something processor I think, and 16MB of RAM, and 1.1GB HDD. How much does Win 98 require?

You'll need a bootable floppy with a CD-ROM driver on it.
