Without a doubt the most overrated game ever is Zelda: Ocarina of time

Oh sure, it did introduce new concepts into gaming and sure - it did have some interesting points about it

But the way some people praise this game is absolutely SICKENING, they treat it like it's the holy grail of gaming or something which of course - it isn't

I know that Halo: Combat evolved or FF7 is an obvious choice and it really is worth mentioning but I think nothing will ever come close to the Overrated status that OOT got

Most of the Nintendo franchises are extremely overrated considering the company relies on nostalgia to sell games mostly. Few good games here and there (like Fire Emblem 7) but the appeal is mostly lost on someone who grew up playing Quake and not Mario.

Bioshock : i tried it because everyone talked about it. And i got bored because they just spin the story to long.
Constantine : extremely crappy
The witcher : lol , i scared you people. The witcher is brilliant
Halo
Supreme commander wasn't that bad but i wouldn't play it again
Dawn of war II : Why the hell did they eliminate base building i've given up after that.
Gameplay was always the same as well. Clear , rinse repeat.

that's pretty much nintendo in a nutshell, it's safe to say that I do not dislike the company as much as it's rabid "fans" - Nintendo fanboys are some of the worst people you can possibly talk to or meet

You get fanboys with every group, they just have a very vocal minority when you say Nintendo can be wrong and they aren't the savior of gaming.

But.... but they are! Like, totally. Really.

Yeah right :P
ok, this is interesting :)
when I started this topic I didn't think some of my favourite games of all time would appear in your 'most overrated lists' xD
- Final Fantasy: you either love or hate the JRPG system. I played most FF's (up until 7) for many hours, but today, they would probably bore me. But then again, I have been playing Dragon Quest IX on my DS for over 150 hours now and I'm not bored yet...
- I own pretty much every game Blizzard has ever released, except for WoW (I'm no MMORPG fan) and I am a big fan of the original Starcraft (II not so much) and Diablo II (I not so much). Ok, it's mindless hack'nslash, but that's a genre, just like JRPG, you love it or you hate it.
- Cod 2 was awesome, the other ones not so much (4 was ok-ish).
- I agree that playing Zelda games or Goldeneye 007 isn't spectacular nowadays, but it used to be. Nintendo 64 used to own console gaming, many of you seem to have forgotten that. Sega was dying and Playstation was just getting started up.
- Daikatana was a joke. How many years did it take to develop it? It's almost Duke Forever Dx

Just my opinion. Out ;)

GameRager: FF7 is a bit overhyped yes, but one of the best of the series....which is saying something if you think about it.
FF6 is the best FF, nuff said. Kefka makes the pansy Sephiroth look like a fruitcake.

Baldurs Gate 1 , 2.

Because they are a boring slugfest at times. The only character i can remember is Boo and Minsc. The rebirth of Rpg were they called aah. The rebirth. Rpg stands for Roleplaying game. But i can't play the character or role i wanted to in BG. They are just hack'n'slay with some gossip and storytelling for me. Stereotype railway roleplaying games. They are not bad, but not the climax of roleplaying games.

Excamples for good roleplaying games: Fallout is a 5 times more roleplaying game as Baldurs Gate. Arcanum is not only a very good RPG but has also a unique setting, steam-punk, orcs in biplanes shooting down zeppelins? Your character stats has influence on the choices you can make. You actually HAVE choices at all. In BG you can only follow the storyline. And at the end (BG2) you have the choice between being an omnipontent immortal being or dead. Wow heavy choices to be made here.

If you come across other good roleplaying computer games please tell me. I am interested in all rp stuff thats around.

Have a nice day

The N64 is what broke my loyalty to Nintendo consoles.

I loved the NES and the SNES for their great libraries of games, but I think I would struggle to name half a dozen great games on the N64. It was a tremendous disappointment. I eventually just put it away and got a Playstation instead.
Of the high-rated games that I have played, Black&White would be the one I was most disappointed with. It was interesting at first, but it quickly got tremendously boring.
bioshock
baldurs gate 1,2 pretty boring if you ask me.never understood hype about it.there is a bunch of better rpg games out there
fallout 3-a crap 1,2 are top games but this..this ugly abbomination...arrgh

I always thought the opposite - Fallout 1 and 2 are SO shit, whereas 3 is brilliant.
monkey island 3

it wasn't that funny. grim fandango is superior to it in so many levels.
You guys expressed your opinion. Now its my turn. Though I can't recall any game I consider overrated, I do have a questions for some of you. How would you say some of these games suck without taking into consideration the genre?

What more do you want from Diablo 2? Is there any other dungeon crawl/ hack n slash action RPG which has anything more than Diablo 2 has?

And Starcraft? Its an RTS. Seriously, what else do you want?

Well, I do know that we have different tastes and preferences. After all, "Beauty is in the eye of the beholder".
