this happened about thirty seconds ago
i had been playing broken sword two for about an hour and a half without saving. i moved my mouse button up to hit the save button and the menu disappeared so that stobbart could start talking. turns out i had just made it to the last room and he starts making this speech about how this is center of the temple, the room of death, the place we've been trying to get to throughout the whole story, we're finally going to unravel the mystery.
then, without further ado, he walks into the room and the game crashes cleanly to the desktop.
after a few seconds i realized my jaw was actually hanging open and i was staring at jessica alba on my desktop background.
beat that
Did you take a picture? Of the crash? Or of jessica alba?
Hmmm I had bioshock go all 256 colour on me just as I was hit by a plasmid (or effect of some sort) that I'd never seen before. I thought it was normal until after at least a minute it didn't wear off. Then not long after the game gets all streaky and locks up, turns out the video chip in my 360 had taken a dirt nap and so it took me weeks to finish that fight I was on.
Also in the hardware related area, I was playing starfleet command one day when my CRT monitor (this WAS a long time ago) started to go all wobbly and the image was horizontally compressed, kinda like watching a bad widescreen to 4:3 quish. I was having areally good time in this damned hard mission so I decided to fight through it but after a few minutes I lost colour. I didn't care, after all what difference does it make if a klingon's blood is red or purple when they can't even decide on it themselves? Soldiering on through the annoyances, I eventually becvame aware of an odd smell and when I stopped paying attention to the bird of prey I was destroying, I noticed that not ALL the smoke was coming from the ship, a large amount of it was coming from my monitor. Even THAT didn't stop me as I was really close to the end of the mission so I killed the last few ships and saved then shut down. Sometime after I'd disconnected the smoldering wreckage of the monitor and placed it outside, I rememberd that burning plastic can be toxic and I must have been retarded to have been sitting there breathing it in. Then I thought to myself "Well if I wasn't retarded before, I may well be now"

If my PC wasn't shared by the whole family, I'd so save that as my desktop wallpaper
Congratulations, once again another thread gone offtopic :P
Usually, games deactivate Windows keys. Once, in Zanzarah, I was about to defeat a boss and I kept jumping using the Shift key. This is when I discovered that when you press Shift 5 times, the StickyKeys dialog box appears. I was led back to the desktop. I immediately went back to the game but there was a big freeze. :(

stickeykeys is the stupidest thing ever conceived. i would punch stickeykeys in the face if it had a face.
ZOMG That is the mystery, right there. Stop playing.

No stickykeys is fine for people who only have 2 fingers in total or something but having it on a common keystroke IS that stupid
you can turn off stickykeys. but they are annoying if you don't :)
most epic crash I already mentioned in witcher thread
http://www.gog.com/en/forum/general/the_witcher_enhanced_edition/perm=170/#p_b_170

Not exactly epic but extremly annoying ---> I never could finish Soul Reaver because it always crashed at the same spot: the last corridor just at the end of the game.

captfitz: both?

+ to your post for attaching a picture of jessica alba.
my most epic crash wasn't a crash at all, but a bug. 40+ hours into Morrowind, and I didn't loot the something off the ghost of someone in the main quest line before leaving the cave. (don't remember exactly what or who)
It was a known bug (but not to me) that the corpse disappeared when leaving the cave. So had to start the game over. I was playing on xbox, so no console fixes.
