Andy_Panthro: The ending of MotB, which wouldn't let me do what I wanted... (I found this very disappointing because I'd got myself worked up in favour of the faithless...)

Gragt: <snip>...or a cutscene where you see your character failing — like if you decide to join the Unity in Fallout and get dipped, which results in a game over — but any of the two would have probably annoyed the other half of the player base so ...

I would have preferred that, a "wrong" ending, or non-standard game over. I know the reasoning behind what they did, but it still disappointed me.
metal of honor: Hero's 2- The game it's self was a disappointing moment. I nearly beat the entire game using only the pistol, sometimes grenades and shotgun when bored. Dull game that is easy on hard. Multiplayer lost my interest quickly. One of the few games that i regret owning.
You are empty- At the final level after surviving an ambush by a bunch of enemies, I collected the ammo and health packs thinking that I was going to fight a final boss. Nope, after that, it was just listening to a speech about how I'm the strong and sitting in the chair for the final cutscene. I was expecting a bigger fight than that. Okay game, that is probably not worth owning.

Aliasalpha: Not so much "The End" as "The Stop"

Was that community mod that's supposed to grant you a more complete version of the game ever finished?

It's actually really damn near finishing, they're one build, and like, 40 bugs away. On their forum, all but maybe 5 events are fully done.

Andy_Panthro: Final Fantasy Legend (Gameboy) - I could never defeat "Creator" at the top of the tower... I guess I'm more disappointed in myself!

Did you ever try the saw exploit (one shot boss kills)? Otherwise use an aegis shield, missiles, and glass sword if you have one. Try to get rid of deadbeat monsters in your party too and upgrade to something useful. Can't remember the meat table offhand. Used to know it. You didn't miss much. The ending sucks.
One of my favorite games. I can do a run in under 2 hours. I've beaten it at least 2 dozen times.

Billy_Brightside: -- Being an avid fan of Sid Meier's Railroads! and installing it on my new Vista system and suffering a CTD once every 20 minutes.

To try lighten up the mood: It works very nicely on my 64-bit Win 7 RC, though I cannot say wether that's depending on some new compatibility work they did for 7 (I haven't tried it on Vista) or something else that differs between you and me.
(yeah, I just noticed the game title somewhere in the first post)

Most games released since 2008, Sins of a Solar Empire and Mount & Blade excepted. Gaming industry becomes more and more disappointing IHMO, games are more and more updated dull copies of each other.
Most excellent RPGs, endings : Damn I wanted more !
Life in general...............oh wait gaming disappointments.
I've played so many and there's to many to list. The one's that stick out right now are.
Half-Life - The final boss.
M.A.X. - Never buy a game named MAX and spend 50$ on it. Good thing they still allowed software returns.
Jurassic Park: Trespasser - The boob shots was nice but teflon coated box stacking puzzles and dumb dinos killed the game.

Impressive! This may well go head to head with Black Mesa for my personal favourite mod of the year. So long as they both stay on track, that is.

Sweet because I still have a shrink wrapped copy of KOTOR2 waiting for the Team Gizka mod...

So do I.
Playing Morrowing only to realize that since the hit detection sucked no matter what level I was (I was using a glass dagger enchanted with poison with level 100 dagger use) it was best to break the CD.
Playing Halo 2 only to see they fucked up my favorite weapon, the pistol.
Beating Half-Life 2: Episode 1 only to realize....it never ends does it?
Spellforce's shitty voice acting...
Beating the entire KOTOR 2 tutorial only to find out...bugs...bugs everywhere.
Learning no matter what I tried to do on Fallout 3, I could not kill the kids...
That's about it.
Oblivion - Radiant AI = biggest disappointment EVER along with the bland forest world. At least Morrowind had the lore and the varied landscape to break the monotony. Also, sneak at 100 breaks the game even further with enemies standing still even after you shoot them in the back with an arrow.
Fallout 3 - I remember waiting for this game and dreading the fact that Bethesda had it especially after playing Oblivion. Then I tried to play the game and all I got was CTD after CTD...damn not even Daggerfall was that broken out of the box...
Metlaheart Replicant's Rampage - it looked like a post-apoc game on a different planet but it played like Earth-made garbage.
Really, I could go on and on but then I might hit the maximum character limit or kill people with unneccessary walls o' text..

Might be doing some of them a favor...=)
This is in response to soulgrindr's comment above.
"Doom3:
Now I actually enjoyed Doom3, and i think it gets way too much flak... but it sure didn't have a doom feel, and it wasn't in the same class as doom2.
Plus i upgraded my PC just for it... yet i played Farcry straight after it (which i see people mentioning above, but don't understand) and it was the best FPS i'd played since HL."
I think I must agree with you. I enjoyed Doom3 (though it was night and day different than Doom 2--and got a bit repetitious.) And up into 2004 FarCry was the best FPS I played since the original Half Life.
