tinyE: Got the patches working; thank you everyone for bearing with me. :)

Anyone else here recommend GCD?
Last time I played GCD had problems keeping track of skill/attribute boosts due to items, and your level would fluctuate if you equipped and removed the items.
I would recommend GCD only if this problem has been fixed.

logorouge: @tinyE: Be sure to install the Code Patch too. It eliminates the most common causes of crashes and give you plenty of optional useful fixes.

@Qwertyman: That's the latest Skyrim expansion, Dragonborn. It is set on the island of Solstheim, which is part of Morrowind. That's why there's so much Morrowindish stuff in that vid. :)
One thing I love about the code patch is that it has a handy front end that lets you easily pick and choose what you want it to fix/modify, and lets you uninstall/install elements whenever you want. So if you just want bugfixes, you can just have bugfixes. If you want (for whatever reason) to leave some bugs in or keep some balance issues the way they are, you can. You don't have to rely on someone else to judge what needs to be changed and what doesn't. I think this should be all but required for any half-decent mod that tries to fix or improve a base game. Sometimes I want most of the features but not some (I'm looking at you, STALKER Complete).

Ah okay, cool. Looks like the release date for that is Feb 5th (for the PC).
GCD sounds a lot like Dungeon Siege to me (which I liked, that part of DS anyway) where it determined skill by what you did the most. If you used a sword a lot it dumped points into melee; if you used a bow it dumped points into dexterity. Took a lot of the work out of it...sometimes.

If GCD is a mod then I assume I can download it, install it, play it, and just click it off if it isn'y my fancy...correct?

I have never had crashing problems with Bethesda games but a lot of people do. I would assume the engine hates driver conflicts, maybe check to make sure your PC is as clean as can be.

Qwertyman: Watch from about 1 minute in to about 1:08. That quick little segment there looks like Morrowind assets in the Skyrim engine. Does anyone have any information about these shots?
Or it may be skywind, transaction of Morrowind into Skyrim's engine.
And thus departs tinyE into a big, big world.

See you in a few weeks. And never forget, should you in the early days of your journey meet the golden lady with a glowing emerald weapon worth of songs and tales; or a man-thing of colors black and blood armed with a twisted tool of death, then run. Run, and never look back!

Don't get your hopes up my friend. I'm like herpies; just when you think it's gone, IT'S BACK!! MUHAHAHAHA!!!

Pretty much exactly right, yeah. The only thing I'll add to that is that Morrowind is a bit more complex than DS, so even things like running and jumping can boost your stats. This can lead to the temptation to bunny hop everywhere like a CounterStrike n00b. There is also the fact that it really does pay off later on. You can move beyond the levelling limitations of the original system given enough time.

It took me a while but I got the unofficial GOTY patch on, the code patch, and the GCD patch, WHEW! I hope I'm ready to play now! :)

Everyone, thanks for all your help.

Are you going to try some of the aesthetic mods? Ones like better heads / bodies don't alter the way the game plays, but make a huge difference in how it looks.

I wasn't thinking of it but since you mention it what do you have?

Jesus, this sounds like a drug deal :P

If I were to have another play through now I'd probably go for Morrowind Overhaul 3.0 that throws all the graphics and sound mods into one relatively tidy package. That said, some people have problems with this one, so it might be best to avoid it until your second play through.

Better Heads and Better Bodies are a must. But then maybe there are better alternatives to those available now?

Morrowind modding is pretty much a mini game unto itself. :P
I still have dreams that i have a suit fo Dwemer Armor in my closet i break out for emergency clockwork invasions...

its kinda like Dr. Who meets Morrowind... my dreams are rather strange....
