Wishbone: While the news about Galaxy were intriguing, very little was actually said about it. Can we expect more information about this soon?

Here are a few questions I'd like to have answered. Feel free to add your own.

1. While autopatching is nice, will the client actually download and install the games themselves as well? I assume it will, but as far as I recall, they didn't say. And if so, will it replace the GOG Downloader?
It will install and update games, you'll have access to your games library from the Client (so no need to schedule downloads from the website like it is right now with the Downloader). Yes, it will replace the GOG Downloader, we don't want 2 optional clients, right?
avatar
Wishbone: 2. So the Galaxy client will connect gamers on different platforms for multiplayer. How? That's what I'd like to know. If the Steam version of a game uses Steamworks for multiplayer, how will Galaxy connect non-Steamworks versions of the game?
Let us worry about that :)
avatar
Wishbone: 3. Will Galaxy only work for games made specifically to support it, or will all our existing GOG titles work on it? If not, will existing titles be updated over time?
Games need to support our service like The Witcher Adventure Game.

StingingVelvet: I'm shocked that not only did it not launch today but there's literally no date or thorough information on it. Seemed like we waited a long time for this announcement but then it was pretty empty. I want my GOG client now darn it!

Still, looking forward to hearing more.
I want it out too! :)

I guess the question here becomes whether a game can be Steamworks (for matchmaking) *and* have a DRM-free version that uses/is Galaxy compatible and can combine the two. Though often Steamworks games are Steam 'required' to begin with, so I imagine those won't be an option anyway. What would be more interesting is if the client will allow you to hook up matchmaking between people playing Steamwork games. (Not sure if/how Raptr did this)

Ouch! That sounded like "None of your business!" in a polite way. Surely GOG will be ready to reveal some details at some point for us to expand our knowledge. :P
Sorry if this has already been asked, but will the multiplayer work on previous GOG games released here, including DOS games? (bolded so it stands out more b/c I'm shameless ;) I think being able to play classics' multiplayer easily would be appealing to a good chunk of people.

(If Hamachi or GameRanger can do it, could GOG? Honestly I've never used those programs and have little idea as to how they work.)

He stated above Games need to support Galaxy, so it seems unlikely they'll be integrated without significant effort.

So, can it just be treated as a better version of the Downloader? I mean I can use Galaxy to download the installers and extras so I can back up/install/view them whenever I want as I did with the Downloader. If so, that's great!
Awesome concept and I'm ready and willing to throw what little money I have at the screen. We could do with some ETA info though?

At the very least perhaps a date on when you are likely to be releasing a bit more information. I'd share the info and try to convert more non-gog gamers, but seriously, we don't have enough info yet.

Fallen_Zen was kind of vague really but I would imagine the client is designed to work with any GOG game ( could be wrong though) but for a game to use Galaxy features they have to be designed around Galaxy ( ie like steamworks on steam). Multiplayer and achievements are things that have to be designed in the game itself for the most part. The good thing is I believe since GOG can modify the games they sell, they could do that without having to rely on a publisher/developer doing it.

How long until Samsung sues GOG?

I'm been trying to ask this question, because I can't download directly from the website, and would like to keep the installers too.

-Niri-: How long until Samsung sues GOG?
That's exactly what I was thinking.
But honestly I do want to see what they're doing with this whole "cross-play" thing, I know Valve tried to do it with Counter-Strike: Global offensive over Xbox 360 and PS3 (Don't quote me on that) and they weren't able to do it.
Then again this was over consoles/PCs but it's still a fairly valid comparison.
EDIT: Also I have a sneaking feeling that The Witcher 3 will have co-op multiplayer.
Monster Hunter 5 anyone?

KaelAlucard: Monster Hunter 5 anyone?
There's already Monster Hunter online, sadly it's only in China/Japan :)

Monster Hunter 4 has integrated online play, eagerly awaiting Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate :3

notpayingforgame: How will this work with non-bought GoG content? I buy GoG games, but I also give Mac versions of the setup programs to my dad so he can play too, and I've pirated a few GoG games that I wasn't sure of the purchase on. But, will people that pirate a game be able to play it online through Galaxy without issue, or will that be locked off? If you try and play a game that you don't own online through Galaxy, will it lock the game down?
avatar
Potzato: Pirating gog games is like .... shitting where you (edit : we) eat you know ? I commend you for being honest about that, but just don't ever pirate a gog version of a game please. I seriously don't care much if you pirate games .... just not a gog version.

edit : sorry for bad language, swiss pirates can facehook me in reparation.
The only thing I pirated was Invisible War because I just finished Deus Ex again, and I was thinking about marathoning the rest of the series, but I wanted to check out if that game was any good before I bought it (and it was after the Insomnia sale for it that I missed). And it was shit, so I honestly don't regret pirating it, because if I bought it I would be supporting that kind of product.
