I'm a huge fan of the Blood series and I am extremely excited to see it will be released through gog.com soon.
Having played the game on Windows XP using various methods (DOSBox, Build XP...etc) the game runs erratically with intermittent slowdowns and various other bugs. Did the gog programming team provide any type of improvements on this with the new release?

Hi ILiveAGAIN, whether GOG tuned it or not, only time will tell. COME ON THURSDAY!!!
Maybe if GOG had access to the source code, they might even make it a native app. But considering we're talking Atari here, there's a fat chance for that. It'll probably be DosBox fueled.
Good to hear, I am hopeful that it could be streamlined somewhat.
I thought there were at one time a planned source port using the Duke3D engine as a basis, but I don't know what the status of that is. To my knowledge Atari newer released the source code for Blood.
Duke3D does not run particularly well in DosBOX.

One of the goals of GOG is to provide games that will work on modern hardware and operating systems just like they did on their original release. That means the game itself is not "improved" in any way, just that they will make every effort to get it working as it originally did. Most of that time, that simply means they provide an already configured and optimized DOSBox config, but if they have access to the source code, they can also fix whatever doesn't work anymore. With few exceptions, all GOG games work fine without any effort on your part right out of the box (so to speak).

I'm in the exact position as you. Blood is by far my favorite game. The atmoshpere the levels ( from the carnival to moving train ), the weapons ( voodoo doll FTW ), the creepy music, the smart quotes many of which are remarks to old horror movies that are better even from duke's qoutes
It is so great hearing it will come to Gog so i can finally enjoy it without all the slowdowns that Dosbox gives me ( even at only 640x480 and as for 800x600 is a no no ). Hope they make it work better with dosbox so i can enjoy my favorite game again

Apparently no port for Blood too. Shame, since Duke 3D looks so good with DukePlus and eDuke.

Talking to folks on the #eduke32 irc channel (see www.eduke32.com ) the source does exist, but tracking down who has it and getting it released is another matter.
GOG's influence could really help here in getting the source released for use with these improved ports. It would mean more business for them and a better experience for their customers!!
oh man.
This is an instant buy for me.
Finally, one game I have been So hoping for on gog !
Now, please get Carmageddon and Carmageddon 2.
:D
Totally psyched about One Whole Unit getting released. I have the original game, and played through pirated copies of Cryptic and Plasma a while back, and have been trying vainly to find an original copy of One Whole Unit on eBay for some time.
I've been smiling so much, everyone thinks I have a new job. It's only Tuesday though...
Awesome that youre bringing Blood finally on the catalog. But, just, no matter what, do not release Blood 2. :D

Why not?
I have been trying to play it on my xp system, and it really sux having to play it in software mode.
If they can somehow get it to play on modern video cards NOT in software mode (without having to basically cripple the video card to do it), then I will certain buy it.
It is a pretty good game as an fps, but by no means as good a Blood 1 (the Blood humor just wasnt there).
I am also a huge fan of Blood. Way to go GoG and Atari! I'm glad you were finally able to add this title to the catalog.
Blood 2 wasn't as good as Blood because it wasn't finished. But that is another discussion. I will be just as excited if Blood 2 is released by GoG as well.
