A pretty sophisticated fan made mockup of what a HD LeChuck's Revenge could look like
That was absolutely beautiful!
I can imagine it only works with limited camera movement (the back of objects would not be correctly textured), but that's fine by me. I hate randomly switching camera angles anyway, so a camera fixed on one side, set to follow Guybrush slightly around the screen, would show off the beautiful 3D and hi-res textures, while still keeping the familiar viewpoint of the original games.
Looks awesome. I love it when fans find good uses of technology to reshape the look and feel of an old game without going overboard.
I would so much rather play a Monkey Island with such 3D projection and the familiar 2D feel than the fully 3D they've done in MI4 and MI5
Very cool :)
Again the fans pull of something way better then the company behind the game.
Looks cool, I'd ahem, download it. Maybe donate some money.
The MI team should hire these guys. Whenever someone does a remake they never think of the new people playing and what they are use to. This would be a perfect transition for MI to go from a flat world into a more 3-D environment.

Uhhh... It's one shot of how the game COULD look. Pretty as it is, I'm not going to automatically elevate it to the level of an actual game. And If I had a dollar for every piece of crap I've ever looked at that was made by a "fan..."

How can you tell? It's the Classic view... and btw, sarcasm does not translate well over the internet.

Wow... the "Super Uber" edition looks awesome.
It's especially interesting how they got the 3-D to work.

It's the special edition.
It's special, and it's an edition.

Very awesome. Though some people may prefer doing 3D adventure games like this instead of the Telltale way, I prefer the way they made Tales of Monkey Island look.

I would much have preferred it if Telltale had adopted this approach. It would be a truly phenomenal adventure game engine.
I don't find full 3D to be well suited for adventure games, especially not with a randomly shifting camera viewpoint that the player has no control over. The method used in that video would work much better, in my opinion.

Seriously why not? Has EFMI and BS3/4 really affected everyone this bad?
Go play Sam and Max Season One (or Two) then come back to me. Honestly it does work.

I know its not the actually game but the method in which they produced that one scene brings the games graphics into a higher resolution while staying faithful to the look and feel of the game. In my personal opinion something lucas arts failed at with alot of the artwork in the special edition of monkey island.
I wish LucasArts made their remake in the same way Eric Chahi made his Another World 15th anniversary: higher resolution, lot of details, but same artwork basis.
Anyway, this super-uber-edition test is awesome. I would easily pay for old LucasArts adventure games remade that way.
