Well, it's Kotaku, so it might just as well be completely made up.
On the other hand, Lucasarts have really come around in realising the potential of their legendary back catalogue, and MI1 SE was a direct hit. No word on re-releasing MI2 makes me hope that they might indeed be out to do a remake of it.
It's ... quite a big bigger than MI1 though, so I wouldnt hope for the $10 pricepoint for this one.

Probably Kotaku just guessing again on a slow news day. It's a good guess though, Lucasarts would be stupid not to do it. Oh wait... Lucasarts.

Hmm, I'm getting the feeling that you didn't enjoy MI:SE. I could be wrong, but I'm usually pretty good at sensing these sort of things.

Dear god, the SE on Steam was crap. I bought it to show support only to be greeted by a game whose graphics were created by what seemed like cheap labour in China. Guybrush looked like a zombie whose hair was constantly trying to escape. This was NOT the Guybrush I know and a lot of the close-up art in other places made things even worse. "Artistic liberties" my ass. I wanted to play the original game after 5 minutes of seeing the travesty that was SE. You couldn't even play the original game which speech, which was the only good thing to come out of SE.

Monkey Island is my childhood, really. It's quite literally the first thing I did on a computer (followed closely by Duke Nukem 3D). To see it butchered like that was a huge insult to me.
I'm grateful for the voice, sure enough (I did start the Speech Project for a reason), but butchering the visuals like that was too much.
The least they could have done was remade it CoMI style. I can agree with that.
I sound like an idiot, but let's take Vagabond's true love, Crusader. The first game, specifically. Let's make it a first person shooter with hyper-realistic graphics. Lose all the RPG elements because those aren't important. Vagabond will sound like an idiot about that, too. Oh, and it has the Ubirape DRM on it, too. You must also buy it from Steam.
Monkey Island is my fanboy game. It's impure if it's not the original thing. I liked Tales because they actually asked for Ron's input, whereas they just went ahead and butchered the SE with no feedback at all.

I disagree, I consider the graphics to be good and not distract from the gameplay or the dialogue/story.
The SE was mostly made to draw in a new audience to an old story and at that it made things great. If you wanted to play the old game then why the heck didn't you do just that and instead bought this? It's not like you didn't have screenshots and videos and review of the game.
Also, what's keeping you from playing it using the old graphics engine?

Well if you want voice then play the fucking remake and understand that it's a REmake, not the original with voice-over added.
It's down to making an uninformed decision about buying the game then shouting that it's not what you expected despite it not trying to be that.
The remake never wanted to be a fanboys wet dream; this is what fanboys don't generally understand: when a developer launches a remake of an old game it's to draw in a NEW crowd of players and maybe get some sales from the old fans. Another funny thing is that most of the people I've spoken to and most of the forums are actually pleased with this remake.

This isn't a valid comparison to what happened with MI1:SE. There were no elements taken out of it. The gameplay style was not changed compared to the original. Some people got anus gremlins when they saw the remade Guybrush, which really made me laugh. The original Guybrush was a 25-pixel sprite, where the head and hair was done in about four colors and 10 pixels put together. You could imagine his face looked like just about anything within that detail level. So how the fuck can you claim that it just doesn't look like Guybrush?
Not that I entirely liked it either. But as far as trying to justify that opinion goes, it's just completely illogical.
