I haven't really found any threads about it.

I'm genuinely curious, has anyone actually used it; has anyone gone through the process of working with support to get their game working and nothing ended up happening so you were given a refund?

Edit: For the record I've never actually used it. If it doesn't work on my Windows 8 system I figure I could just get it running on Vista or XP.

I have a game I couldn't make run, but I bought it 6 months ago, so didn't try :)

My problem is that I tend to buy stuff when it goes on sale even if I am only remotely interested in it.

I heard one guy complain about it but he bought a game that clearly wouldn't work on his OS. I don't remember the exact title but it was something really obvious and of course all the specs are very clearly labeled. If I remember his excuse was something along the lines of "Well no one told me to read the specs before buying it." Stuff like that happens regardless of what your line of work is.

Same here. I buy games in a bundle / deal even here when the price is right.
I will check out the games I really want. I install them and given them an hours testing, but the games I just pick up because I think they might be fun at a later time I download (in case GOG ever has a problem) and get on with the games I really want.

For the most part I think GOG knows this is how most people work and that there will only be a few times people ask for their money back.
When I had a GOG game not work before I just uninstalled the game and went with the idea that I had only bought it on a whim and that it not working was not the end of the world as it was only about $2.49. Not like I have never lost that much money before.

I got a refund for a game once.... i had bought it from Stardock. ( i forget which game)

When i buy games, i am always very careful to check the requirements which i did in the above case. There was no mention of a requirement for the earlier version of this game to be installed, so i bought it, it did not run, asking me to install the other game. I complained, and as soon as the support guy noticed it was not mentioned in their requirements section, he apologized unreservedly and offered me the full refund.

No because I only buy good games that work!

I finally managed to get Messiah stopping from crashing with v2 and with sound too not to mention Sanitarium miraculously began to work after some insane fiddling (the main issue was the slow mouse movement, not crashes).

I haven't tried Septerra Core, Silver and Gorky 17 and I believe they're tough nuts to get crack but I'm rather resolved to get things working (more so than actually playing sometimes..)

No, never used the refund feature so far.

Most of the games worked properly and the ones that didn't could be fixed with some minor fixes. As long as it's less of a hassle than dealing with the darn 640 kB of the 'good' old days, it's bearable.

Biggest pain in the neck so far: Dark Reign 1...

I ignored the reviews saying this game doesn't play nice with Windows 7 but unfortunately they were right.
Not going to get a refund because I haven't tried everything yet and I got the game on sale so no big loss but it would be helpful if those select few games that seem to consistently cause trouble with certain a OS came with a some kind of a warning label in the store description.

The game in question was bought six months before the policy came in effect, so nothing came of it. Oh well- I can play that game, JA2 WF, and other problematic ones like it, on an oldlaptop I got working again, at least. I think it's awesome to have the safety of the money back guarantee, but for some older games, there's no fix but to use an older PC, or at least that's how my experience has been thus far.

No one uses it cause most gogers buy the games on discounts, backlog it and never actually install the game right away to test it out xD So after a year that you finally want to play it, the one month money back warranty is gone for good :p

The first game that i couldn't get working was 1sane.
So i contacted support. Well, after 3 tries from them with *usefull* tips i lost interest....mostly because i had the feeling that they didn't read my replies and just sent the usual like load the newest drivers, uninstall it, re-download it, send us your DxDiag.
During the process i missed one point....on the support sheet there is no *Money Back* topic.
For me it confirmed my first thought about this...its a nice promotion for them but troublesome for a customer.

Which brings up the question: does 30 days start from the purchase (or redeemed gift code) date, or from the initial download date?
