I havn't got much experience with these types of games (Grindy, boring) in general but the ones I did play are:
Flyff (Absolutely crap)
Shin Megami Tensei: Imagine Online (Very cool if you like the SMT universe. Plays like Pokemon, but more mature. But ultimately, I got bored of it. Too much grinding in the later levels.)
Requiem: Bloodymare (Horror? Multiplayer? Insta-download. Didn't get to try this much, but I assume I would have got bored of it just like the rest. Lol.)
Awaiting the Warhammer 40k MMO, and hoping the pricing won't be too strenuous.

Dungeons & Dragons online is free. Have not played it but I´m thinking about it. That is if you like the D&D setting of course.
I was interested in EVE for a while as well. Then I started playing it and realize it was the most boring game I ever played. Mining and looking for mobs for hours is not fun.
There's the zombie themed Dead Frontier, it's still in beta and has a lot of features missing but is playable. There are far too many end game characters who have bought the best items with real cash though which makes it a bit more difficult to keep up with the elite but them's the breaks.

Ha, I go on that... Admittedly only the forums, though (which are utterly disgraceful right now). They used to be good, though. Don't even know why I still go there anymore.

Yea the game is ruined by too many high level players who think the entire game should be based around their needs and are rude and offensive to anyone lower level than them who might voice a different opinion. I personally think there are far too many 'end game' players who have effectively completed everything there is to offer, but who will unbalance the game for everyone else if their high end needs are met and the game becomes more and more difficult unless you are one of them and have a GAU. Already the markets are hugely manipulated by a few rich players. There's fun to be had for sure, but I stopped at level 50 over a year ago. That for me is enough. Aside from gaining the aforementioned minigun, there's nothing else I want to do. One day the game could be great, but I'd rather it became more survival horror orientated, than the current Robotron Meets Dawn of the Dead direction it seems hell bent on taking.

TheJoe: I've just been informed that it's $15 USD a month. I spend $19.95 a month on my VPS already. I don't really want to double that, more or less.
We've also just been discussing RuneScape in IRC, and damn, it sounds more attractive than it did a year ago...

Whitecroc: Keep in mind that once you start playing WoW, you will likely get sucked in and cease to buy other games. If you spend more than 15$/month on video games, it's a sweet deal for the sheer amount of /played time you will likely rack up. (I estimate I had about 150 days of it spread over multiple characters when I quit).

I've been playing it on and off for nearly two years, and never spent $1 more than the game's monthly subscription rate on it. Never had to use any of its paying services, although I have a few friends that use character transfer a lot, because their guilds shift through realms.
Oh, and yea, in the end of the day, when you /played, you get a lot more for those $15 in a month, then you will get for a lot of those $60 in a lifetime.
[url=http://boi.perfectworld.com/]Battle of the Immortals? Granted it's in beta.

You picked boring things to do. I started out mission running and got pretty bored so i started piracy and annoying other people and it was loads of fun.
Evony has hawt babes 4 u!
XD
If it has to be free, the only one I was ever into was Silkroad Online. It has a really interesting PvP system where you can be either a Merchant, Thief, or Guardian that play a sort of rock-paper-scissors global game with each other.
May I ask what's wrong with Guild Wars? I absolutely love that game right now, I can just put music or a podcast on in the background and chat with some dickhead like michaelleung while I zone out for hours. Feels good man.
Also, pay only once and right now they are adding content to bridge the narrative gap between GW1 and the upcoming GW2, which sounds like it is going to be SUCH a cool game.

Lord of The Rings Online is by FAR my favorite, far better than any other. And Ive played em all :P It takes a little while to get into but once you do... DANG. Its only 10$ a month right now during their anniversary sale. And you can pick up the mines of moria super special edition for like 10 bucks at most stores and that comes with a month.
Mytheon really bugs me. Because its got an awesome setting but theres NO WARRIOR CLASS!!! Only mages and elementalists.

TheJoe: So, in about 2 months or so I will have finished my final exams and will be free until I start College, so for the days where I'm not camping or getting drunk, I want to play an MMO. I'm looking for suggestions.
I currently have a Runescape account in limbo between Free and Members; I can play Free, but I won't get anywhere since the bank is way beyond free capacity full of members only items. I can play members, but I'm afraid of paying and not playing (exactly this happened early last year).
I used to absolutely love Puzzle Pirates.
Guild Wars and DDO are ruled out simply because I really, really hate them. And I play real D&D anyway.
WoW is ruled out because of the ridiculous price tag (and now the incoming microtransactions, 10 for a fucking horse?!)
So, what can the free spirited people of GOG recommend? In gameplay I tend to prefer economics and diplomacy over grinding, or a mixture of the two. But that said, I have The Guild for that. If it's a P2P game that you suggest, could you try to include the monthly cost as well?

Requiem its free and fun. Been playing it with my son since our Lineage Accounts expired and I do not have the cash to pay for another year at the moment.

I resent that.
I have played Astro Empires for 711 days now. Its is pretty fun, and free. The upgrades are cheap if you want them, 24 euros a year I think.
Its a bit like tribal war in space, but better.
