"While Wii still maintains the largest under-the-TV seller this generation with an “active install base” of 75.5 million units worldwide, by the end of 2010, PS3 reached an install base of 43.4 million compared to Xbox 360′s 42.9 million."

Already?
That was so fast!
Meh. This was a given. After all, in Japan there are only two real consoles. The Wii and the PS3. The Wii has already pretty much hit its ceiling, so everyone can spend their cash on the PS3.

There's this other wannabee pretender put out by some US company, but everyone just thinks it's a joke. Said US company must think the same as the only way they can ensure people line up to buy their products at launch is by hiring people to line up to buy their products at launch (the so-called sakura).

The problem is, they hire the same people that most other US companies hire (such as one named after a fruit) and it's so blatantly obvious -- especially as said sakura are so fucking open about it.
Meh, I've got very different numbers. That's dumbest April's fool I've ever seen :-P
I have both and as far as games machines go, there's no comparison really; the 360 wins. It has a lot more exclusive games and 99.9% of the cross platform titles are significantly better than the PS3 ones (only ones I can think of which aren't are Final Fantasy XIII and Castlevania.) The 360 is an ugly unreliable old git though. The PS3 does have some good exclusives depending on your interests but mine gets more use playing blurays and dvds.

Really now? that's quite a revelation to me

Let me know what are these exclusives you are talking about because the last time I checked the ammount of good exclusives on the 360 can be counted on one hand

Here we go again...

Grow the .... up! If you care so much about sales and console/Pc wars there are many other forums you can discuss (poison) that in. Please keep this shit out of the GOG forums and maby we can keep this forum one for adults.

I could, or you could just look them up yourself. I'm going for the latter :P it's less work for me. As for the PS3 that's lacking in good exclusives too.... The PS3's flaw is that Sony's obsession with piracy has resulted in a console that's difficult to program for.

Edit: Gamerager the pc ports tend not to count. Because the 360 uses a form of DirectX it means it's easy to quickly (and usually dirtily) transfer ports to PC... and of course microsoft etc will always do that because 1 month of work can mean a lot more sales.

My post was aimed at both of them, and to this kind of thread in general.

I can't really speak much for the PS3 as I haven't followed it that much but I can say that most of the times when I looked at the top lists of Xbox 360 games, most of the games that would have interested me, either were already available, or going to be ported to PC anyway.

Just haven't bothered with any of the new consoles though tbh. I loved my Ps2 for the massive RPG offering it had but even the PS3 doesn't seem to have followed that enough for me to warrant investing in it.

I don't think I'll be bothering with the next console generation. I shouldn't have to worry about things like how long before my console's going to die. You're right about the lack of good console rpgs too. I'm still collecting PS2 rpgs to go through. Tales of Vesperia has been the only console rpg of note for me this generation.

Actually I did that a few months ago when deciding which console I were to buy (I would have gotten both if I could have afforded it). And 360 has very few good exclusives. A few years ago that was not the case, as Microsoft money bought a lot of exclusives. But in the last couple of years PS3 came back with a vengeance. And not as quantity but as quality.

That and the fact that it was finally jailbroken I think lead to the increase in sales.
I have a lot of consoles (three 360s (at different locations), two PS3s and one Wii), but my personal favourite is still the old PS2. Games such as GTA San Andreas, Pro Evolution Soccer (I can not see any significant improvements in the series on the PS3 - the same goes for Gran Turismo), Baldurs Gate Dark Alliance, Champions of Norrath etc are classics. The best games on the current consoles are better on the PC anyway (Oblivion, Fallout, Assassins Creed...).
Meh...really could careless. This whole "console warring" shit is utterly fucking retarded. I got a PS3 because its a reliable system end of story. In the 2 years i had my Refurbished 40 gig PS3 (god knows how many hands it went through in the 4 years before i had it), two of my family members, both who are more anal then i am about their gear, went through 3 360's. No amount of "good exclusives" will blind me to that fact.
Nice, though once I thought this would never happen. Back when Sony execs kept opening their mouths and giving the PS3 20 different names for what it really was.

Of course, this didn't help at all: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gqkNPcUMffU

It was a horribly managed launch, bad price ($600!!!!!) and not a must have product at the beginning. Sony, to an extent got their act sorted out just let the devs make some great games. Plus the Kevin Butler ads finally gave it some good exposure, for the right reasons.

The PS2 still beats I think, far far far too many great games for that system
