Supereor: and that name is all new levels of silly(BECK? CALL!?!?! GETTIT, CUZ BECK AND CALL!?!?)

Starmaker: That was in the project from the very beginning, complete with the "GETTIT". I remember, cuz I had a look at the project when it just launched, saw no mention of DRM-free but a fuckton of exclusivity, and never looked since.
Oh, I apologize, I didn't know. I just assumed that she noticed the name of the main character was "Beck" and then immediately thought "Call."
I'm pretty confused about this whole thing.

The press is making it sound like the backers hate her because she's a woman, but when I read the actual kickstarter comments it seems they don't like her because she's done some annoying shit in the past? Very confusing where the messaging is going here.

What I will say is that a community manager is pretty much irrelevant.

The thing though is that she's supposedly good friends with multiple members of the staff, and has tweeted about "designing robots". So it sounds like she's wearing multiple hats at the office.

And no, the backers don't "hate her because she's a woman" It's the same bullshit tactic people pulled with Anita Sarkeesian and what happened to some degree with Hepler at Bioware.

Everyone glosses over any valid points or fair/valid criticism by saying anyone raising issue is some misogynist death/rape threat harasser. That there's no one who's sane or level headed raising any valid complaints.

The video spells out the very strong reasons why people are upset. She seemingly was hired with nepotism as a strong factor. She lied about playing Megaman games (She tries to backpedal from her totally unambiguous tweet and claimed that she had played MMX. But that means that she was saying the only one she played is "the best").

And she's obviously someone who has a questionable track record. This is the person who was hired to voice community concerns to the dev/design teams and at least express what people want. A person who clearly has an agenda.

Now, the overall effect she can have on the game as a whole? Probably not that great. But it's not a good thing when any valid complaint is being passive aggressively dismissed with mod edits. People are not being engaged in debate or discussion.

They're being ignored, banned (sometimes rightly), and their concerns aren't being addressed.

I think the fact she deleted the tweets that clearly show her lying/looking bad is the biggest worry here. She's someone I wouldn't trust to convey the community's position honestly, and she seems like the kind of person to lie/twist things to fit her view of things.
Wow, what a complete over-reaction to a non-issue (actually it's not, it's just that the issue here is that evidently gamers are ****heads). Nepotism is nothing out of the ordinary; every field is about networking and connections these days, and the only reason this is being blown up into such a huge deal is because people are biased against her. As to her qualifications, community manager has never been the most prestigious position; in fact, they're often considered the lowest rank of the dev team.

Otherwise, what do we have here? She stated an opinion (that shouldn't be offensive to anyone who isn't sexist) and suggested a strong female character? Wow, crucify her. She locked her Twitter and deleted tweets? I'd do the same thing if I was being harassed like that, and there's nothing unprofessional about doing so. I only feel bad because the developer must feel so let down by the pettiness, immaturity, and bigotry of their fanbase. I know seeing that would sap my motivation to create content for such an audience.
