Almost 4 million bucks in bonuses for high end chaps, and they're screwing all the low level employees out of money they owe them.

Executive officers really need to take more responsibility for their companies instead of taking huge bonuses as their companies fail.

The sad thing is that the executives technically "deserve", and I use that word very loosely, their "bonuses" because it states in their contract with the company.
It would be nice to get them sued the pants off of though.

You gotta admit, the execs must be pretty good negotiators, to come up with a contract that still pays them bonuses when their company is in the crapper.

Of course, they are the ones the outline the conditions of all contracts, they're gonna draft the documents in a way that they get all the benefits when/if the company goes bust.

Sad really. Not sure how it works but how can company pay bonuses when they filled for bankruptcy?
Aren't they forced to pay off their debts first which is this PTO thing. I also hope they will get sued. They obliged themselves to pay it and then say: "screw it we are not paying". That can't be right.
And midway is dead. shame, another ol' player gone from the market.

Fortunately it doesn't matter what the contract status of those bonuses is in regards to ex-employees and shareholders filing suit. From the information presented in the article it looks like with the ex-employees it would be a pretty straight-forward breach of contract suit (severance packages count as binding contracts); collecting might get a little complicated if Midway files for chapter 11, but that's a different matter. It should be mentioned that such a lawsuit would actually be against Midway, and not against the executives personally. For shareholders, all they need to bring suit is to make a case that the executives made decisions based on motivations other than increasing shareholder value, and that as a result shareholder value dropped. This lawsuit would actually be against the executives themselves and not Midway. Note that the executives' bonuses don't factor into any of this.
