Time does fly...

Gerin: Yes, it does. I'm in my forties, and sorry to say this but it flies faster as you go.
This, unfortunately.

I'm turning 34 this year and god, I already feel it.

But you're from Japan. You guys live 150 years o.o
i'm 21, but i don't act my age most of the time, actually i don't feel i've changed much since i was 18
15 :P
i bet im the youngest one here though :D
I'm 20.
The average age does seem to be a bit higher. I wouldn’t like to say by how much, it depends which specific site you might be comparing it to. If it is somewhat higher I wouldn’t say it was about older people wanting more and deeper stories in their games though.
30 and still going strong. Strange how life turns out. If you had asked me 10 years ago, in many ways I wouldn't have guessed how my life is now.
I suspect I qualify both as middle aged (40) and middle-age man. At least, the wife says so.

I'm guessing the average age is somewhat higher than most other gaming sites, for the simple reason of nostalgia. Teenagers looking for the games they remember fondly from "way back when" can find them almost anywhere, because "way back when" is only a couple of years ago. I'm guessing some do come here looking for games they never got the chance to play, but on the whole, GOG probably has a bigger attraction on the older part of the gamer demographic.
it is still something "socially forbidden" to play games, in younger ages but perhaps even more so in older. Although this will probably be an anachronistic statement soon. Did you ever think about when you would stop gaming in younger ages? When I was 14 (19 now) I always told myself "shit i reaaaly have to stop gaming before im grown up - 18 - or perhaps when Im 20. Today I dont think I'll ever stop, why should I? You older guys, how do you approach this subject? What was your thoughts before - in the GOG old days - and what are your thoughts now?
Jeez I'm old - 40
I'll add another to the most common age in this thread so far ... I'm also 31.
I think what makes us different is not so much age as mentality. For an average person of teen or twenty-something age, the approach to movies, tv shows, songs, games, etc., is, "If it's older than six months, I'm not interested." We don't have that attitude here because we just don't think that way. Age might be the reason, but who's counting?

True. One friend of mine refuses to play games that are older than six months, claiming that no-one plays them anymore and that they are "out-of-fashion"..

Hey, we all used to be 15 once. That's about where I was a decade ago. Most of the time since then has been a blur, I'm still surprised when I look at the mirror sometimes expecting to see my 14 year old self. I was a lot happier and healthier back then. Don't be fooled, school sucks, very very much, but your problems can easily get worse and it becomes harder than ever to make friends and keep them, so make the most of it!

No, why would I?

I don't think gaming has any "social stigma" attached to it, unless we're talking about WoW or simply really excessive gaming. But then anything driven to extremes is frowned upon. Of course, different cultures have different viewpoints, and generally, at this point in time, the decision makers are mostly from the last pre-gaming generation (40+). As time goes on, this will change, and I think we'll see a major shift in the "official" attitude towards gaming in the next ten years, as more and more "seats of power" are occupied by people who grew up with computer games, and probably still play them.
