Is that means we will see the backlog catalogue of MS Games on Steam , not in here ?

StingingVelvet: What does that have to do with multiplayer? And I am 90% sure if you use an offline profile it does not mess with the saves, it only does that for online profiles to protect their silly achievements.
It means you have to be online to use the same profie for multiplayer. If you can't go online you have to create a new offline profile that's the big issue. If you have a profile called StingingVelvet you use for online play then that profile will not be available to you if you are not connected to Live. Consider an online/Xbox profile to be protected by always online DRM.

Now of course you and me don't care because, well I for one don't play online but a lot of people do and this proves to be an annoyance. Also GFWL is still not supported worldwide so in some countries you can't have an online profile at all unless you like on the region info.

Well, it won't let me buy Fable 3 because I'm in Latin America. So putting together the DRM they use and the regional sales, I don't think there's any reason to believe they might have a deal with GoG, who sell DRM free games worldwide, at the same price. In fact, I'd actually believe that the fable 3 region-locked release would be a hint that Microsoft is NOT signing a contract with GoG.
They're probably going to put Fable 1 on Steam really cheap when I just bought it off GFWL yesterday because it was the only place to buy it digitally.
And soon, very soon, WoW and Starcraft 2 on steam too!

I get you.

I wonder if GOG would just sell them as singleplayer only, similar to what Steam is doing right now with Dungeon Siege 1 and 2.

It's possible. Live is heavily integrated with online functions so even non-Microsoft games like Section 8, Dawn of War II and Street Fighter IV require it before they can connect. The only real issue is what is the value of a game like Section 8 or Halo 2 with its multiplayer stripped out?

Well, Section 8 none at all really, but Halo 2 has a campaign. I would guess any game with a campaign is worth something to someone as an offline experience. I didn't like Halo 2 much, but for example Gears of War I enjoyed.

You know, that will never happen. :)

Steam and Battle.Net are the two leading online gaming services.

The only thing why Microsoft may be doing this deal with Steam is to lure consumers to GfWL...

Only one problem... The AoE guys bitched how the game is worldwide... I asked them to define worldwide... They pretty much said worldwide equals 20 or so countries.

It will be the same with Fable... Steam fanboys will be terribly disappointed to learn that they cannot play the game they bought.

It seems they're just not selling it in non-GFWL countries.

That would be great :)

What's stopping you from buying the games from Battle.net?

You still need to have them in your Battle.Net account to be able to play them.

I would guess price is one reason. Battle.Net don't have sales, neither do they have reasonable prices for old games like Diablo II or Starcraft. I'm guessing people want them on Steam/GOG so they can get them for a more reasonable price.

Also one of the reasons Blizzard will never come here as they charge a lot more than GOG do for old games.
Pretty sure Battle.net plans are to open it up to third parties, and they don't have a need to spread out their games to begin with since they're doing fine. So yeah, not going to end up on Steam.
Delixe, at the same time, Blizzard's old games still sell as much as many companies' and corporation's new games. So while we shouldn't expect Blizzard here on GoG anytime soon (at least not with Diablo 1 or Starcraft 1), they're the only PC game maker whom I think it's not (yet) in their best interest to be here already w/their old catalog.

Every other company, I feel, should be ready to give their old games a new life here on GoG.
