They haven't stated anything conclusive either way. In other words, it's a bit like the PC version of Resident Evil 5 when the console versions were released. As you may have noticed, that has shown up now. It's typical that the PC winds up getting released last.
In any case, it's irrelevant.
Plus, I think that people are forgetting that EA have only released one game for PC that you can actually buy since mid 2007. So who cares?

Navagon: 9 months is a very, very long time now, is it? That, of course, doesn't take into account the upcoming titles like Alan Wake and Kindom Under FIre, to name but two.
Yeah, damning evidence that Microsoft would force EA off the Windows platform for sure. Nice detective work there.

Yes, yes it is. You're naming Alan Wake, which is currently in PC limbo? And Kingdom Under Fire, which doesn't have a release date yet? Yeah, that's great support. Microsoft has made it its priority to avoid publishing its Xbox 360 games on the PC. The last game that we have seen published on the PC by Microsoft that was on the 360 is Gears of War. And what does EA make? Multi-platform games. What haven't we seen from Microsoft? Games that are on both the PC and 360. I haven't seen Halo 3 yet. Or Fable 2. Or Gears of War 2. Or any of the 360's big sellers. They also closed Ensemble studios, before they had time to even think about putting out a PC version of Halo Wars.
They don't want PC game sales to take away from 360 sales.

Also, the GTA4 DLC is another example of MS wanting things to be exclusive to the 360.

You seem to have missed the bit where I wrote "you can actually buy". As in not just rent at full retail price.
I wouldn't put much stock in this rumor until much more information is available. And even if they are in preliminary talks they'd still have to hammer out a deal, get stockholders to vote for it, and probably get FTC and DoJ approval as well. And there's a significant chance the process could break down at any one of those steps. So there's not really any point in paying heed to the rumor until both more information becomes available and the process is significantly further along than just preliminary, unpublicized talks.

Don't be daft. It's not renting, that's just a stupid straw man argument that people against DRM use when they don't feel like / know the real arguments.
I'm against DRM too. I just don't use lies to attempt to prove my point.

No one is "renting" those games at full retail price. Quit embarrassing yourself.
A giant behemoth buying another giant behemoth is the last thing the game biz needs. That would stifle innovation more than it already is. I hope this doesnt occur. EA and the other big game companies should be competing against each other, not getting acquired.
One advantage is that MS are a company who MIGHT be interested in making money off a massive back catalogue of games

They'd sell it on Xbox Live Arcade if anything.
Microsoft doesn't even make their own games for PC anymore.

MS already has a decent back catalogue of games that are not available digitally, while EA is starting to release more and more online. The Sims 2 expansions and stuff packs are going up on Gamersgate which would suggest they are interested in going back to some degree.

Crassmaster: So MS would cancel games for the PC...which is still their biggest platform in terms of focus?
avatar
PoSSeSSeDCoW: Well, they've only released one game for the PC in the past two years and they don't have any coming out in 2010, so it's safe to assume they already HAVE essentially abandoned the PC.

And how much does MICROSOFT IN GENERAL make from the PC market? Hmmm? Do you honestly thinjk the company that probably makes more money from computers than anyone else out there is going to pull gaming, which they know moves computers and hardware, away from personal computers?
