Snickersnack: Why would Microsoft want to buy EA? I thought MS was busy axing all their internal game studios.

Hmm come to think about it, MS buying EA wouldn't be such a bad idea after all.
......Bill Gates, you douche...
...from a strict business POV, MicroS buying EA makes all sense: they don't bother to have game divisions, and instead buy a major player in that field, with maybe dozens of "proven" titles/franchises. Then, that profit can turn to MS as well as special games - since console excluses are what mainly pull the public into this or that system.
As for EA wanting to sell... well, money is all it needs. Even more so if MS in that situation would like to maintain most jobs of the seemingly profitable giant. Or, EA might me starting to linger in secret and this could be good way out. Nobody thought Lehman Brothers was falling until it was actually revealed... and Blizzard/activion (well, blizzard mainly) are a though, money-making opponent.
As for what that would bring to the gamers if consumated, well it could go any direction really...

A Texan with internets is a Texan with no excuse for being ten years out of date.

Lemme guess...He is not the head of Microsoft anymore? I obviously don't follow this stuff, cause I really don't care who his in charge of what in these kind of companies.

He hasn't been running Microsoft since before 2000. But he made it official then.

His name is new to me...
I'll fight Microsoft if that happens. I may hate EA for their consoleyness, but at the very least they still make games for like, you know, that PC thing.

Why is everyone so convinced Microsoft would want EA to drop Windows support? Support for other consoles, naturally. But Windows they still support. Even if it's only ever the latest version.

Microsoft hasn't released a game on the PC in a very, very long time.

9 months is a very, very long time now, is it? That, of course, doesn't take into account the upcoming titles like Alan Wake and Kindom Under FIre, to name but two.
Yeah, damning evidence that Microsoft would force EA off the Windows platform for sure. Nice detective work there.
