They did.
But now they're back and I need to hide in my room with David Byrne playing at full blast so I don't hear it.
Hurry up and die again!
LOL sweet, Byrne is one of the things that kept me sane through those years of lousy music too.

he was on top of the world mate.

I'm not saying he didn't revolutionize the pop scene, infact I get beat it stuck in my head to this day (well really, Eat it by weird al, but same beat etc.) but the fact remains that the past 20 years have been pretty unspectacular in comparison to his career before then. It's always terrible to hear when someone dies, but as far as his career goes in terms of innovation, he was dead long ago.
Yup. He was already a nostalgia act. He drew much more on old fans than created new ones. His new stuff didn't chart anywhere near as high as his old stuff or make anywhere near as much money.

but at least she was trying, and I think she may have ceased finally.. but still I mean, she kept at it.
"Reinvented" herself by what ... wearing cone shaped bras and putting out another album of crappy music then another? Making that braindead word a meme is horrible enough legacy without having to hear her music too.
I remember reading somewhere that it's hard to imagine what Madonna could be remembered for besides simply being Madonna -- and isn't it more than a little silly to be remembered or celebrated for that? She's a singer who doesn't sing well and an actress only because she was a singer, and a mediocre actress. Will she be remembered for anything more than being popular? Not much. To her credit, she did become a better singer over time, but she started as such a lousy one and still never became a good one. Her tunes, of course, are completely disposable and forgettable. She's one of those "I guess you had to be there" celebrities that will make the next generations go either "Who?" or "WTF?"
