From the sounds of it, the new publisher, Deep Silver, does not sound opposed to having Metro: Last Light on gog.

gog, if you havent tried yet, go after this game!!!!

Deep Silver releases its PC games on almost all the digital distribution channels these days, so I think Steam and GamersGate etc. are a given. GOG.com I can't say.

That would be great seeing the Metro series come to GOG. Saints Row coming over would be a bonus as well.

Hmmm... Deep Silver - a company who couldn't understand they got the rights to make a transformative work based around the Strugatsky Brothers' Roadside Picnic, and not GSC's S.T.A.L.K.E.R. franchise... I don't think that bodes well.

Unfortunately he also mentioned this: "All I have to go on until we receive more information is that Last Light is listed as a Steamworks game. We will probably keep it that way."

Other sites can sell it as Steam keys, GOG can't, so it looks bit bleak.

Yeah, but they have also removed drm from games too, so thats at least a little encouraging.

If they could get it on disk with GOG I would so buy it. I don't think I can endure steam for another game.

Being older, the original Metro: 2033 has more chance of showing up first, that chance is still slim to none IMHO though, GOG doesn't presently have any Deep Silver games and the old THQ ones that Nordic got haven't arrived here yet either and GOG DOES have Nordic on the books...

The thing with big publishers is that it costs a lot to do little things, relatively. To remove Steamworks from a Steamworks game they would have to put staff on the job, deal with how long that would take in corporate America, then re-test the game for compatibility and whatever else. It's just not worth the hassle to them for the rather small market of people who only buy DRM free games without question.

At least that's how they see it.

I don't see Steam being removed from many titles unless 1) a major competitor takes a large portion of market share and wants to sell those games, or 2) Steam collapses, like GFWL.

Question: Does Morrowind and S.T.A.L.K.E.R. uses Steamworks?

I don't think you can buy Morrowind without Steam these days (used retail copies are a different matter). S.T.A.L.K.E.R. is sold at least in GamersGate with SecuROM.

Uh.

The developers are Ukrainian, and the publisher is based in Germany, not to mention GOG is based in Poland. America doesn't come into it *at all*

Couldn't they give it to GOG to do themselves though? In the same way they hack out CD checks and other copy protection in the oldies?
