sk8ing667: So I take it I was mislead with this game. Would you compare it to a Fallout 3 atmosphere with Far Cry 2 gameplay? I'm just trying to get an idea of what it's like.

More like Half Life 2 with a lot of survival horror elements. Far Cry 2 was completely open, like Stalker.
I'm on the fence about this game. Was considering a pre-order for the gamestop bonus shotgun... but I'm not sure...
I see the potential for both good and bad. I don't know how much they intend to play up the RPG elements. I know there isn't really a leveling system or such, but specifically the character interactions and purpose of "towns" (or their underground equivalent).
I like the idea of ammo as currency, reliance on an analog watch, breaking equipment etc. Would definitely add to the survival aspect... but they could fumble if they make it -too- real.

Gundato: Looks fun, but I am probably going to wait for a sale. Something about it just doesn't feel right. Not sure what.
That being said, I plan to buy the book it was inspired by next week, since the US English translation gets a reprint :p

What? Are you trying to say IT was translated into English? But on the second thought, maybe ITZ translation is better than the Russian original....

Heh, I'm also planning to get the book when it's released here. :)
I have high hopes for the game, and it's one I'm keeping an eye on.
Xbox World has given Metro 2033 a 9.0.

Sounds really good.
It's still going to occupy space in my Xbox 360 for awhile once it comes out. Been waiting FOREVER!
Saw a gameplay video today, and, well, doesn't look THAT good anymore. Your average shooter really, although the atmosphere was genuinely creepy.
And this is why I didn't bother buying it: http://store.steampowered.com/app/43110/?cc=jp
Just can't trust Valve with THQ releases these days.
I bought it yesterday ( Together with Final Fantasy XIII ) and I must say I like it! It a mix between S.T.A.L.K.E.R. and Doom 3. ( On the 360 btw. )

Lol, saw a stealth gameplay video (it's on gametrailers). Two soldiers were standing around a fire, and the player threw a knife right down the throat of one of them. The other just stood there gaping, no reaction at all.
Looks like they just took the "Radiant" AI from Oblivion or something. Shitty. Game's made a really poor first impression on me, and I haven't even played it yet.

At least with the Radiant AI trailers they mocked up some decently scripted scenes (which weren't indicative of the final game, but still... good marketing).
it sounds a lot like Hellgate: London.... not a bad thing but its a Steam only game... means I'll need to wait a long time before its priced even near where i might touch it, then again the steam trick "if it works" might make me buy it.
I got it for 360 and so far I am pleased with it. Granted, it's nothing groundbreaking or extraordinary, but it's definitely an enjoyable experience if you like survival-horror. If you find a good deal on it, it's worth checking out imo.
I got it for PC and I love it. The weapons are especially cool, albeit usually quite underpowered thanks to the shitty cheap ammo that is produced. It's amazing the difference a well written backstory, script and plot make.
