Ahead of the 60-minute Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain event today at Gamescom, it has been revealed that PC versions of the Ground Zeroes and The Phantom Pain are in the works. The leak comes from the official Konami website, which says both games are coming to Steam.

Did *not* see that coming. Holy ... this is gonna sell like crazy :D

We were already pre-planning our purchase of the PS4 for this very game.

Sooooo I can play 1, 2 and 5 on PC? Aren't those games supposed to have crazy continuous storyline?

Chronologically, the story goes 5,3,1,2,4 (I think) so it's not that bad really.
The backstory is crazy but each one also nicely stands alone.

Nope. 3, Portable Ops, Peace Walker, Ground Zeros, 5, NES Metal Gear, Metal Gear 2 Solid Snake, 1/Twin Snakes, 2, 4, and Revengence.



You can ignore some games of the series (the NES games since they are covered well enough in the Twin Snakes) and some of the games can work fine as standalones like Metal Gear Solid 1 Twin Snakes and 3 Snake Eater.

The rest rely heavily on continuity. To play MGS Portable Ops, Peace Walker, and both 5 and Ground Zeroes, you nned to play 3 Snake Eater, because that was the beginning of Big Boss' tale.

Same goes for 2 Sons of Liberty and 4 Guns of the Patriots, you need to play 1 Twin Snakes.

Nope, it's 3, PeaceWalker, Ground Zeros, 5, Original Metal Gears, 1, 2, 4. In one hand I'm so excited because it's my favorite series. On the other hand, I'm lacking money and good PC to play MGS so it's going to be years before I get my hands on it.

Not really. Just like a C64 or Amiga game is not a PC game.
