kava07: And I have to add 1 and 2. Metal Gear Solid is just unbeliveble classic, I don't know why the hate from JumpingJack, and two is hugley underrated because you aren't in the role of Solid Snake.
avatar
JumpinJackFlash: I didn't like the poor controls, awkward camera angles, the constant interruptions and poor narrative from the time i spent with it. Plus the hype for the game back then was ridiculous, which made the game out to be much better than it actually was, for me personally anyway.

What's one mans classic is another's piss-poor title. I didn't like the game for the reasons above.
Sound to me like you want to hate it just becaouse it's triple A title. I can name few games from that time that had awkward controls and weird camera angles. And even nowday which game doesn't suffer from bit of poor narrative?

jamyskis: Although, honestly, seeing the reaction of the assholes in the "PC master race" (yes, including Crosmando being a complete and utter prick up there) to this announcement is actually part of the reason why I don't like to associate myself with PC gaming. The PC gaming community is so saturated with arrogant cunts that I feel ashamed to be part of that.
*sigh*, Crosmando
No, just discussion boards are saturated with that shit. Most PC gamers are quite reasonable human beings who don't give a shit what are you playing on, don't worry.

jamyskis: What, aside from the fact that it's going to be Steam-only?
I'm still buying the PS4 version.
You know, the irony is, odds that at some point I will be unable to play the console version anymore (console broken and discontinued, disc broken etc.) are larger than in case of a Steam version. It's basically still the safer and more future-proof option out of the two. And the cheaper one as well.

Elmofongo: MGS has Cyborg Ninjas, a Vampire, Ghosts, a Seemingly immortal man, a woman bullets fly away from her, and man who can control bees, and ROBOTS
And now they added child soldiers to the mix! Things are getting craaAAAAAaazzzyyyyy!

Well, I'm still playing PS1 games while their respective online services on PC have been discontinued, so...

Disc broken = my fault.

DRM server offline = not my fault.

jamyskis: No, they can't just be happy that they're getting it on their platform and that there's more choice. No, they have to be complete and utter cunts about it and gloat at the "console peasant noobs" about how there is now supposedly "no reason to get a console".
To be fair, even as someone who acknowledges the awesomeness of console gaming I have trouble to find a good reason to get a next generation console. MGS5 was actually the main reason for me.

That's certainly true right now, at least where the Xbox One and PS4 are concerned. I've had very little reason to buy much for the PS4 of late, and my Wii U has been seeing most playtime (although I will be making a start on Risen 3 on PC this weekend).

I ordered Murdered: Soul Suspect for the PS4, which is on its way now, but the next-gen consoles other than the Wii U offer very little in the way of compelling propositions at this moment.

There's good stuff coming out from October onwards though. And I'm looking forward to seeing Diablo 3 on the PS4 later this month (not sure why I didn't pick it up for PS3 - I think I was just too pissed off about how Blizzard desecrated it on the PC).

I'd never buy a console for just one game though. When I was an active PC-only gamer, I was always rather disappointed about certain games being console-only, but there were never enough to really tip the scale for me. What tipped the scale was the prominence of Steam, Origin and UPlay in physical media. That's why I prefer the console releases of multiplat titles.

Of course there isn't a good reason to own a next generation console now. The PS4 and the Xbox One are not even 9 months old yet, there still aren't that many games out for them. It takes some time for a new generation to "pick up" the pace.
On a completely different topic, has anyone actually played Ground Zeroes?

I've heard it referred to as a glorified pay-demo but I suspect that most of those accusations come from people who haven't played the game. How much play time do you get out of it? Is it worth the €25?

Well, at least both in case of the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 you knew that amazing games were coming at that point. Trailers for MGS4 and Killzone 2 blew people's minds long before the PS3 was even launched, the Xbox 360 had Gears of War. All of these (console exclusive) titles announced a truly new generation in gaming. Now we're already almost a year into this generation and not only haven't been any games with that impact launched, they haven't even been announced yet, IMO.

No shit just got real. Child Soldiers? That is a very heavy topic.

I haven't played it myself yet but the Polish mag CD-Action (which is genuinely independent and doesn't give a crap about conformity) underlined that its open nature provides more content and play-time than most full-priced single player experiences you get these days. And that the arguments that you *can* beat it in less than an hour are quite moronic since the same is true for some of the most extensive games ever such as Fallout or Morrowind. :P

You haven't seen the Red Band trailer I presume. Here's the extended cut. You can see them at 0:49. Heavy stuff. Oddly enough I do genuinely believe that the same guy who brought us hiding in cardboard boxes and can pull it off. Kojima actually touched the topic in the past, in MGS4 for instance these weird female bosses all had backstories of such nature (survivors of ethnic cleansing and shit).

Hmmm. Might be tempted to give it a whirl then. I'd actually been trying to get through the entire Metal Gear series from the start, so I started with the first two Metal Gear games on the PS3 HD collection, but I discovered I really didn't have the patience for them, so I skipped straight to MGS1 on the PS1.

I know I seen the Red Band Trailer and Child Soldiers were discussed in Codec in MGS 1 and 2. But this game we actually see the participation of Children. Ugh seeing them die in battle would put the feels in me. I would feel like a failure both as a leader and a father figure.
