F4LL0UT: Well, at least both in case of the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 you knew that amazing games were coming at that point. Trailers for MGS4 and Killzone 2 blew people's minds long before the PS3 was even launched, the Xbox 360 had Gears of War. All of these (console exclusive) titles announced a truly new generation in gaming.
Killzone 2 and Motorstorm backfired for Sony, actually. Those CG trailers were very misleading, the final games looked nothing like what they had shown and many people got pissed. Not me, i knew PS3 games wouldn't look that good, but those CG trailers did fool quite a few people. The final version of Killzone 2 still looked amazing, but it was very far from that 2005 CG trailer.

F4LL0UT: Now we're already almost a year into this generation and not only haven't been any games with that impact launched, they haven't even been announced yet, IMO.
As you admited yourself, this is your personal opinion, not a fact. I'm pretty sure that for many people out there Uncharted 4 is a very good reason to own a PS4. Actually, anything that comes from Naughty Dog is a good reason to own a Sony console. In my opinion Naughty Dog is currently one of the best AAA studios around.

I don't know how they will top Uncharted 3. It was already my favorite of the 3, (Unlike Popular opinion of everyone liking Uncharted 2)

Crosmando: Also I believe they sell old (emulated) PS1 games on the digital store so I'll check that out.
Yes, they do, and there are quite a few classics there such as Chrono Cross, Parasite Eve, Alundra, Final Fantasy, Xenogears and many others.

I got all the important PS1 games except for Spyro the Dragon and Crash Bandicoot Trilogy

I don't have MGS 1 since I already have the PS1 Disc and my PS3 is backwards compatible with PS1 games (no PS2 sadly)

No Resident Evil 2 or 3 since I have the Gamecube versions. (I do got the original Resident Evil 1)

and other PS1 Era RPGs that are not Final Fantasy, Vagrant Story, Parasite Eve, or Legend of the Dragoon or Xenogears.

I agree on Motorstorm (although the game does still look great) but you are simply and utterly wrong about Killzone 2 (unless you mean it in a positive sense, which you don't :P). Yes, the E3 2005 trailer was pre-rendered and people did get pissed about it but the final game actually looks *better* than the trailer. I have yet to meet the person who actually played the game and does not think so.

This is the controversial pre-rendered E3 2005 trailer
This is the same sequence from the final game

Yes the sequence was altered, that view of the sky in the beginning was removed (or rather replaced with another fantastic view), they removed the flight just above the roof tops but most of the stuff you see is either present or can be found at later points in the game in some form. And the "gameplay footage" at the end of the trailer doesn't even get close to the visuals in the final game. Just compare it to the beach scene at ~4:30 in the walkthrough I linked to. Some things look different but the game sure as hell looks better than the trailer.

The only people who can possibly claim that the trailer was misleading after having played the game must not have seen the trailer in a direct comparison. The trailer looks MUCH worse than I remembered it.

And the other game I mentioned was Metal Gear Solid 4, not Motorstorm. And again: the final game actually looks better than the E3 trailer that blew everyone away.

Yeah, sadly I don't share most people's opinion on Naughty Dog. Their games are in my opinion utterly overrated. But I get that other people feel differenty about them. Well, I still don't get why Uncharted is as popular as it is but yeah, I respect that other people enjoy the series.

Now Konami just needs to re-release PC versions of Silent Hill 2-4 on Steam/GOG.

If that happened, my wallet would have to file a police report for rape.
So does MGS5 have codec?

Looks like the 'next gen' consoles aren't tat next gen after all. If konami manages to optimize the game, the result would be really good. They did a good job with the LOD, reflections and near textures imo.

Cannot wait to get my paws on this game. I wish they'd re-release the original on PC already.

yeah or the HD collection would be nice to play on the pc. MGS4 is another story due to licensing I think. But the fox engine seems very pc friendly since most of the early footage was shown on the pc with the 'same' specs as current gen consoles.
So GZ will release today. It's pretty much a demo/engine showcase so I'll wait for PP instead. But the engine seems pretty optimized. Here is a Nvidia performance guide. Hope this game runs well on AMD cards as well.
