remake in 3d or remake in the same old up view perspective camera?
I wish the best for this project, I really love the metal gear saga (except for the spin off MG:rising or whatever is called)
I only ever played the MGS on PS1, although I did finish it, it was one of the most frustrating games I ever played and actually completed. Could never work up any enthusiasm to play the sequels although I got one on PS3 for free (guns of the patriots?) but cba to play it.
A remake already exists. It's called Metal Gear Twin Snakes for the GC. Unfortunately, it's one of the rarest GC games around (and one of the most expensive for that reason).

EDIT: Forget what i just said. I thought it was a MGS remake, but it's a remake of the first Metal Gear for the MSX.

My God great news! Can't wait to play it!
Now I only need to find a copy of MGS: the Legacy collection and play Peace Walker... missed that one on PSP.
Not really excited since it's not coming from KojiPro, but nevertheless interesting to know. I find that announcement to be of little help though, especially for grasping the concept of how this remake is going to work. I can infer that it's going to feature 3d environments but that's about it.

I know something about asset creation for videogame development pipelines but not nearly enough to be of real use in a project like this. Is anyone else jumping in on this?

EDIT: they have some images of 3d renders and concept art here.

Probably another downloadable title than.
As long as the guards still shout "I AM ASLEEP" and keep shuffling even though they're apparently sleeping I'm OK with it.

Buuut I believe there WAS a remake of the original Metal Gear that was an unlocakble for completing MGS on PSX - I guess the PSX version is getting a bit long in the tooth now though...
Apparently there WAS a DOS version of Metal Gear, way back when, but I think it may have been based on the inferior MES port, not sure...

*edit*
It was actually MGS3 on PS2 and MGS3 HD on PS3 that included it

MGS3: Subsistance came with Metal Gear. However it was more of a port than a remake.
Yeah, but MG 1 and 2 from MGS3 include an easy mode.
Thanks for sharing this, Punished_Snake! What they are trying to do is very ambitious, but they certainly seem to have the skill and passion to achieve their goal. In fact, I might try to throw my hat into the ring in some way myself.
They should see if David Hayter is interested in doing voice-work, it would probably end up a better game than any of Konami's recent junk
"Uh oh....the Humvee have started to move."
