JudasIscariot: Doesn't take much skill to "hack" a decade-old server like BioWare's. I, too, know how to use a tool that sends a ton of packets towards a designated target. Does that make me a hacker?
Oh my god oh MY GOD YOU'RE NOT ONLY A CARROT, YOU'RE ALSO A HACKER!

Could you sign my "Path to greatness" book?

Would you like it in leetspeak, English, or Polish? :P

AndrewC: What skill? That's the problem, so far their only "skill" demonstrated is using a tool to DDoS and maybe a couple of public SQL exploits. Sorry, that's no skill unless your highest standard are scriptkiddies.
FU, mister! To use LOIC you need skillz!

EDIT: Sarcasm. :p

Um, did anyone else who was trying to read it experience that this wall of text suddenly turned into a giant penis? ;)
Only people who've never dealt with the court system say they don't give a shit about being put through it.

nondeplumage: Only people who've never dealt with the court system say they don't give a shit about being put through it.
Or those that think they won't get caught.
Worse it almost looks like they want to get caught - and sued with a class action by numerous companies. One wonders if they are just little pests with a superiority complex or if they have the ulterior motive of getting to court and getting lots of media fame (and maybe trying to push some agenda of theirs to try and win support with the common person that their cause was "just")
People seem to noyl be looking at the Takedown tuesday they did. Sure, that was just DDoS basically, which isn't complex, and a moderatly skilled guy can use LOIC etc to do so.

However, they don't only do that. Think about it, they've done ilegal stuff, and psoited phone numbers, accounts etc all over the web. People should have found them, no?
They've also done far more complex stunts, and more difficult actions/takedowns/hacks.

I'm not defending them. i'm not stating I approve of any of whats actually happened, I'm just saying DDoS isn't all their capable of.

Such as?
I'm late to the game, but is there any reason we should believe that this posting actually has any relation to the recent hackings?
Their whole fbi stunt I seem to remember was impressive, as was theirfirst attack, which memeory completely fails me on...

To be entiirely honest, I think the amount of DDoS-ing and general attacks their doing is quite impressive, purely from a not getting caught point of view.

... online gaming servers (by request of callers, not by our own choice)...
aka "the others are responsible, not we". Also seen in "GTA made me do it".

But what if we just hadn't released anything? What if we were silent? That would mean we would be secretly inside FBI affiliates right now, inside PBS, inside Sony... watching... abusing...
Note the one word where they stated what was intended - abusing. If targeting internet security of companies or the data they have about customers and the safety of it would have been even considered, there's no need for abusing.
Which pretty much blows each and every argument about "the internet becoming a safer place because of them" out of the water.
Do you feel safe with your Facebook accounts, your Google Mail accounts, your Skype accounts? What makes you think a hacker isn't silently sitting inside all of these right now, sniping out individual people, or perhaps selling them off? You are a peon to these people. A toy. A string of characters with a value.
Nope. Don't trust them, never did. But I definetely trust them more then any one at Lulzsec. Why? If shit happens they're responsible and you can call them out.
And we're aware of what we are for Lulzsec - in the best case a nameless sucker with only entertainment value, in the worst case a sucker with a sold creditcard nummer.
This is the lulz lizard era, where we do things just because we find it entertaining. [snipping continual self praise]
Sounds just like hooligans after a match.
We've been entertaining you 1000 times with 140 characters or less, and we'll continue creating things that are exciting and new until we're brought to justice, which we might well be.
Wow. Talk about padding your own shoulders or waving your epeen around.....
Newsflash for Lulzsec: you're not entertaining, you're not creating and definitely it's nothing new you're doing. You've just broaden the scale, that's all.
This is the Internet, where we screw each other over for a jolt of satisfaction.
Enjoy your 15 minutes fame. I'll enjoy the satisfaction once the system comes crashing down on you.

It was nothing, bitches.

KavazovAngel: They do make some strong points though...
They make strong points about how frivolous we all are with internet security but they're also sociopaths with no empathy for other people.
tl;dr : we're immature irresponsible cunts
