Haven't tried the last one, as it's probably no good, being made by new developers.

First one is a bit repetetive, but still great playing experience. I think I have played it through at least six times (3 times per playthrough, once on each difficulty level x 2). Definetely a classic, even with some faults.

Second one is the hardest thing to approach. On one hand, it finetunes the game mechanics and improves the experience from the first game. On the other hand, the "love noir" thing is so bad writing and so implausible that it's somewhere between embarassing and disgusting to follow, also it doesn't have that depressing feeling that the first game had. Still, overall, it's a fun experience if you can block out Mona Sax from your brain.

I think this series could really benefit from "back to the roots" reboot.
Keep what is essential, leave out the rest.

First one was better than the second. Still both great games.The third one is another story...:/

As for the topic, yeah I would re-buy them from GOG, if they came here. I have finished the retail versions of 1-2 already, and I wouldn't be surprised I'll end up having the Steam versions at some point just because they release some ultra-cheap bundle with Max Payne 1-3. But still, I'd like to have DRM-free installers too.

I loved the original MP, those cheesy Brooklyn accents, the graphic novel cut-scenes, some of the locations like that sleazy love motel, just perfect

Because Remedy sold IP to Rockstar, I think chances are very slim. Voted for first two ages ago, of course :).

Frankly I don't. MP3 felt very same-y to me, I have hard time remember any of it except these "edgy" moments but that's hardly an achievement and more like remembering bits of Jackass ad. Its predecessors are a different cup of tea.
