Hey Guys
So I run two rigs, One with a dual core 2.2 (will check-went on sysreqslab and it registered as alright), a 7600GT, and 1 GB of RAM
My other one is a 2.8 Dual, 9300M GS, and 2GB RAM
As far as I know, sys reqs lab says I can run it fine on my second rig, but I think that's dodgy because I've heard it can only handle new games such as Assassin's Creed on low (and Oblivion on Medium or something).
So basically, i'd be playing it on low graphics. Is the game still worth it ($30AUD)?
the game has been on sale for as low as $5 recently..
otherwise if you have difficulty, always check this place out
http://www.tweakguides.com/ME_1.html
Expect to see it for $5-10 on services such as D2D, Steam, and Impulse this holiday season.
(The folks at Impulse have stated that ME will arrive on the service sometime soon, so I wouldn't be surprised if it arrived with a nice sale.)
Thanks for the tweak guide
Yeah, online purchasing isn't an option right now, so retail is probably the best idea

Aren't video games 100000 spacebucks in Koalatown? Seriously, they kill you with the prices down there.
The 9300m is a piece of crap isn't it? I think you should be right to run it though, even if you do need to turn the detail down a bit I'd expect it to run under those conditions.
Did they ever kill the activation crap for the PC version? Best be sure you don't buy second hand, just to be on the safe side

They are mad but you can get some top deals. Maybe importing the PC version is the best option if time isn't a problem. If he can get it for $30 thats not too bad, its the same price as a DVD (which we pay about double what americans do)

Yeah cool, thanks Aliasalpha
The activation is like 3 concurrent, which means you can't have it installed on 4 PCs at the same time, NOT activation 3 times
9300M is truly a piece of crap, nonetheless I'll install it on both and try it out

I was able to run it, albeit at heavily lowish settings, on my old and seriously craptacular laptop with a 1.8 GHz AMD dual-core processor and the even more craptastifipacular Radeon X1600 video card.
The desktop 9300 I suppose would be better than that.

Sweet Bejesus
Then it'll work better on my 7600GT I guess
Definitely worth it. Don't know how powerful your card is but I have a system with a 3ghz dual core processor and a 9500GT card, and I can run it on max. I'm sure you could get it to run on medium on either system.
I ran it on mediumish on 2 gigs of ram, athlon 3300+ (single core), and 8800 gs, so you should be fine. Mass Effect also doesn't take a huge hit when you turn down the res, it'll still look decent.

It will work on a 7600GS, despite the fact that it specifically says in the system requirements that the GS is no good for the game. Anything better/newer than that will easily run the game, at the very least on minimum settings.
Got it for free today with a monthly PC gaming magazin.

All SecuROM activations are concurrent, it just means they can be used at the same time on multiple PCs. When you run out you still run out and need to contact EA to reset everything.
Anyway the game runs well on older hardware from what I have read, and the game itself is amazing, so yes, you should buy it.
