Delixe: Final story DLC yes. Note Houston said story driven DLC so there is nothing ruling out another Pinnacle Station or more costumes. I will pass on those though ;)
avatar
OmegaX: I wouldn't mind another Pinnacle Station because the combat is actually fun in ME2 compared to 1. Also, money is limited in this game and I haven't been able to buy all the upgrades (I won't bet on "dog" fights to buy them either).
Yeah, Pinnacle Station with actually fun combat could be good, especially with leaderboards.

Delixe: I would imagine if you held out this long it wont be much longer. Probably around July/August to drum up the interest in ME3.

KavazovAngel: And generate even more money, as people tend to buy the GOTY editions even if they have the regular ones.

Business done right! :)
I will, I only paid 10 bucks for ME2 and want the DLC.
As you may know from my questioning of the other dlc, I am rather wary when it comes to dlc, especially from BioWare. I did buy Overlord and Lair on the recommendation of users from here and loved it, however I still like to know what it is that I am getting when it comes to dlc, since I don't want to encourage cheap knockouts. As a result, I will be awaiting to hear what those of you who do get the dlc think (that and I still want to finish getting my last ME2 playthrough set up properly) and to see you post your opinions here. So fly my monkey minions, fly! Spend your money so that I can save mine! Mwa hahahahaha!

Ahem, sorry about that, sudden attack of megalomania then. Opinions when you all finally get your hands on this juicy thing would be most appreciated. :)
Ok, but what makes you think there will be GOTY edition?

AFAIK, there was no Mass Effect 1 GOTY. In Poland we had "diamond edition" with Bring Down the Sky", but Pinnacle Station has never found it's way onto dvd.

I'm not sure what to do - I want to complete as much DLCs as possible, but I would definitely prefer GOTY edition. On the other hand, I'm afraid the case of Neverwinter Nights premium modules.
I hate it when they do things like this. Release DLC that you have to buy to be up to speed for the inevitable sequel. I completed and uninstalled Mass Effect 2 a long time ago. (Thoroughly enjoyed it.) but this should either have a standalone story line that doesn't continue the main plot or be part of the 3rd game; damn greedy Bioware.

It's pretty much what BioWare does now since it got the dlc model underway. ME1 had one piece of dlc that you paid for on PC (Bring Down the Sky was free for us), whereas with DAO and ME2 you have quite a chunky selection of dlc, and releasing a GOTY edition is just the smart thing to do for businesses and is pretty much common practice now. The PS3 version released with Overlord and Lair as well, so it makes sense.

In this case, I think it has more to do with EA. But I get your point.

I also hate the 'mandatory' DLCs. Actually, I did not purchase any DLC (for any game) until Lair came out. Given the praise that Lair received, I bought it and I must admit that I enjoyed it. But I still find it pretty expensive : 2h of gameplay for the price of a GOG is a bit steep.

I will also wait for reviews of Arrival before I buy it.

It is rather cheeky, and I doubt that most people that played ME2 actually buy the dlc (I know people who have played both ME1 and 2 and plan on playing 3 and yet still went ahead and sold their copies of the game once they had finished them as they have no intention of ever playing them again) and so making Arrival necessary would actually be a detriment to them. Then again, they said that Witch Hunt would answer player's questions about Morrigan, yet I hear it did nothing of the sort, so more than likely it's just marketing buzz to make you think you need to get it. Probably will end up having no impact on how ME3 plays out at all.

I doubt it will actually be that mandatory. They acted like Witch Hunt lead in to DA2 but I would say it just barely did and was completely irrelevant to the greater story.

I actually give Bioware credit, their DLC feels thoroughly optional.
I'm seeing reports that the Aussies may actually have access to the dlc already if they are playing on XBox. Any of our local Croc Hunters able to confirm or deny this and if the former have you got it yet and what do you think of it?

Just because you're Dundee doesn't stop you from being my minion... :P

I think the model the ME DLC is going is that the stuff that happens in it happens whether your Shepard is present or not. So they can use that stuff in ME3 if they want to, but it doesn't need to have been with your character. Like, Lair is canon, even if you don't help Liara she does it herself. Probably the same with Arrival.

I am excited to read some reviews later today/tomorrow though. I think this is going to be another good DLC.
What I'm hearing at the moment, is that Lair is significantly better and that people are finishing it in under an hour. Hopefully someone will come back with a different impression...

I'd rather know how it compares to Overlord since it's the same price.

Good point, still for the last dlc I kinda expected them to try and end it with something meatier to get people pumped up for ME3...
I just finished it and I have some veeeery good news :)

The length is just ok... it is made from one small and one huge area to fight in,it took me 1,5 - 2 hours approximately. A few nice fights, a great last stand and a few twists (the whole mission is solo and there's even a small stealth segment).
Also, the ending is just brutal, I wonder what will they do to Shepard after THIS :) Just wow.

Negatives... The story is a bit illogical at times, but nothing too bad. I'd give it 8/10. A great teaser for Mass Effect 3, I wanna know what happens now :)

This one is mandatory, unfortunately. It's a pretty big intro to what happens in the next game.
