Browsing through a thread on free adventure games, and I found this awesome free title that I played a long time ago:
http://www.alteraction.com/downloadpage.php
For a free game, I really enjoyed this. Very interesting experience, similar to Indigo Prophecy. It's more of a choose-your-own-adventure game, but the interesting thing is how everything plays out in real time so you cannot just dilly dally while taking your own sweet time to choose the dialog option you want.
Not something that you'll keep on your hard drive for long, but it's an interesting experiment on a boring night or working day.

If it's good enough to get on the PC Gamer top 100, then I may as well try it...
[edit] why does it need an internet connection? Seems suspicious...

Not really. It also says No Installation Required, so chances are it's an online-based game.

If it were online based, then why would I need to download a 17MB file? That seems like more than enough space to hold whatever images it needs (considering the art style). I'm just cautious of running something that requires an internet connection but doesn't say why... a touch paranoid perhaps, but that's just the way I am.
Okay, but in this case, isn't it free? So...who cares? If it turns out it does have that requirement, and you don't like it, just delete it and move on.
I'm a slut. Slept with wifes best friend...

It's safe trust me. I played it for several hours (~few days of getting back into it) back then, trying all kinds of different outcomes. No problems whatsoever.
