Hi !

I picked up some SNES and Genesis games on a garage sale. Sadly they were no manuals with them.
I know that there could (maybe) be some kind of copyright issue...but is there any site you can recommend for downloading such manuals as pdf ?
Its just like to read those before playing.
Try this http://www.replacementdocs.com/download.php

Just a shame that RepDocs is probably going to go down the drain at some point. Sleepy doesn't maintain it at all nowadays (family commitments if I remember correctly) and none of the supposedly appointed editors have done anything about reviewing the uploaded manuals. There hasn't been an approved upload since June 2012.

I seriously have to get to Germany and hit the garage sales. Yes I have my roms but I would love an original Genesis setup for my big screen.

Man, now I'm all depressed.
Mhh, http://www.replacementdocs.com/download.php dosent look that good, bit thanks anyways.
Any other ideas ?

I think buying them from ebay/amazon/etc would be cheaper than going to Germany for garage sales. :P

Genesis is one of the cheapest older consoles to collect for. Unlike SNES where most games are getting more and more expensive.

Wow, that horrible site still exists?

Do they still corrupt their games by adding a stupid watermark at the end of the game data?

I noticed and while I don't currently have the fundage don't think for a second that I'm not considering it.

Why Germany? There's Estarland.com amongst others. Locally we have several used game shops that specialize in Genesis, NES, Atari and a few other obscure consoles. I think next week I need to go buy something as I have a $5 credit.

In all fairness, Vimm is responsible for contributing most of the NES and SNES manuals on ReplacementDocs.

STUPID QUESTION
Do Genesis games suffer the deterioration of older systems? What I mean is regardless of how neat you are NES cartridges will stop working from dust and time. Does this happen with the Genesis?

That's good to know. But, I think that has to do with the fact that Sega has rereleased most of their games at least once by now. And Nintendo tends to keep a much tighter hold on their IP.

No, unless they use a battery backup system, in which case the cartridges are subject to the same problems that NES cartridges are, namely that the cartridge is unable to store saved games anymore because the battery's fucked.

Theoretically you can open up the cartridge and replace the battery, but at your own risk of course.

I haven't had trouble with that personally. I think the NES problems are the result of Nintendo being cheap about the connectors. The slot in the console suffered from oxidation due to the alloy they used, and I think the same is true of the carts themselves.

Personally, I buy a cart and dump it to my computer. Then play on my computer with an original controller.
