gameon: Sure, but its possible. So it just strikes me as a bit of a bizarre rule not to allow swearing in titles due to search results....

Doesn't really matter though, like you said the sites all about buying games, swearing doesn't really matter. (whether people do or not)
Note from your own screen grab the amount of links that have no text at all. It does greatly reduce the risk of giving new customers the wrong impression to enforce a policy like that.

Why the double standard? Simply because they want to juggle their priorities of giving their customers and supporters the freedom to speak their minds with the fact that they're trying to run a business and draw in more customers.

Compromise.

gameon: Have you seen games that try and balance arcade with simulation? It never seems to work. But i am happy just being part of the community here, i'm not complaining or anything.

Perhaps the site is not only in transition from old games, to old AND new games. But also forum transitions.

TET did mention a new forum manager was joining their team soon......
No offence but I can't stop wondering how many forums you've been a regular on.

In what way is that a valid analogy though? What you refer to requires a synergy between two conflicting ideals.

Whereas with GOG we're talking about two separate elements with two separate policies regarding them respectively and two separate areas where these two elements are mostly relevant. Different things. Different policies for different reasons.

gameon: Well gamespot was severely modded, no swearing allowed.

Places with no moderation like youtube comments have swearing left right and centre.
It's just that regular forumites almost never discuss this. If the forum is moderated it solves the problem. If you find a forum where swearing is considered something of bad form if used too much the community moderate it. And if someone new enters the forum asking why the f**k he can't swear because it's his god d***ed right that person finds it very hard to stay on that forum.

Basically it something that experienced forumites doesn't start a discussion about. They quickly feel what the forum thinks about it. Maybe a rage thread of some kind but not a discussion. Hence my question.

gameon: Well this forum is run differently to any forum i've been on, hence my confusion. There are light moderation decisions, and when it suits them kind of modding when it comes to warnings and swearing policy.

I guess i'm used to having proper off topic sections, strong moderation etc etc. I'm still not used to the way this forum is run.
True. Self moderating forums about entertainment media are not common.

If you want to know how this forum is run you only have to remember one thing. It's run by the forumites. Keep that in mind and what kind of persons the majority are. :)

Gameon, just relax, let your hair down and just think of the GOG forums as the bar in Cheers where everyone knows your name.
Jeezus can't you guys stay on topic and talk about Max Payne 3 instead of, you know, forums in general?

Next, you guys will be questioning my Christian faith for having called upon the Lord but misspelling his name.
This game is non canon to the series to me.

Yes, I know I'm not the person who gets to decide what is or is not canon. What I am saying is that to me, and only to me, this game is non canon. Just like Die Hard 4. Die Hard 4 is non canon to me.

What does that even have to do with Resident Evil? And why are they making a PS2 version of the game?

Did you play it? It's amazing to me how many people are totally against this game just because of some sunny Brazil levels.

It's not -just- because of the sunny Brazilian levels. Most people thought from the start that another Max Payne title was a sacrilege and they'd gonna keep at it, no matter how good the game actually is.

Funnily enough, in 10 years the exact same people would ask for a Kickstarter and gladly pledge 100$ to "bring back Max".

Im really enjoying it, yes I'll admit its not as "gritty" as the previous two but even so is one of the best games to come out this year.

Solid gameplay and a good story, havent tried mp yet but its a very long game for its type and good value for money.
