You're telling me you think COD games are any better? They both glorify killing don't they? So what's the big difference? Heck in Blood you murder cultists by the droves and sometimes even civilians.

Heck, sometimes we all just want to see the world burn, and this allows such with such leanings to let out their inner demons in a non-irl manner and have a bit of fun.

It's also funny that some here who dislike game censorship attempts are making the same comments such lobbyists use to try and restrict or ban such games or others, which is sad in a way.

Context.

Manhunt particularly went out of its way to glorify each and every death. It presented murder as something to be revelled in and life as being cheap and disposable. The only thing CoD glorifies is western gung ho politics. It's like the video game take on Team America World Police, only it tragically manages to take itself seriously.

Blood is very dark in content but distinctly comedic in tone. Kind of like the game equivalent of Braindead (Dead Alive) in its day.

Yeah, sure we all want a bit of destruction now and again and games are a good way of sating these instincts. But given Manhunt's disposition, it is about sating instincts I thankfully do not have.

I wouldn't even call GTA comic book as it would be insulting to the medium of comic books to do so. It's about as light hearted take on crime as you can get without abstracting it from reality completely.

Navagon, by that definition, most games glorify death. When we play any first person shooter, third person shooter, RPG, etc. do you really think about your actions in the moment? When you kill a German soldier, do you think of him as a human being, with a family? Do you think he wanted to even fight in the war? No, you shoot him. The only motivation you have is that he is there. The same goes for just about any game.

Manhunt is a form of entertainment. It isn't some training simulator or something made to satisfy those with violent personalities. Hell, most of the people you kill in Manhunt are some that that specifically paint in a way so that you DON'T sympathize with them. Manhunt is entertainment. Hell, one of my favorite movies is 8mm and that movie is almost reviled for its brutality and disturbing content.

I understand you don't like it. It's not a game for everyone and has numerous flaws. But don't try judging it assuming it is somehow beneath all other games. It isn't.

Neo-Nazis?
Gung-ho nut jobs?
Psychotic smiley faces?
Drug dealing murderers?
Baby mask wearing pedophiles?
A naked psycho wearing a pig's head and wielding a chainsaw?
A sick fuck who gets off to snuff films?

I really liked the game. It had a dark atmosphere, a great soundtrack and a very grim and twisted sense of humor.

No. Most games don't even come close to depicting death, never mind glorifying it. The enemies just go from being a threat to ragdoll physics mode. That's not death.

As I said about CoD, some games might glorify war, etc. But death? In the way that Manhunt does? I can't say I see that in every game in which things die. Far from it. Even games like Bulletstorm are so many degrees removed from reality that they're merely a bit tasteless.

Now don't get me wrong. I have loved a lot of very violent games over the years. I'm not being prudish or anything here. My problem with Manhunt lies purely with its intentions and its overall tone. If you don't have a problem with that then well, what do I care? I don't. By all means enjoy the game for what it is.

Manhunt 2 was actually a pretty good game. The shooting sections were terrible but whatever, most of the game was the normal sneaking stuff. I finished the game (bought on Direct2Drive) so it can't be that bad.

Now that it is not available to purchase anywhere I guess you're morally okay to "pirate" it, so give it a try. And yeah, bring it to GOG. Bring the rest of Rockstar's games while you're at it.

What is squeamish about that? If it's best for the business,
then who should blame them? A store is a business not a fraternity party,
and if it may hurt sales or doesn't pull it's weight, having it in the shelves would be just plane stupid.
Apparently it didn't pull it's weight anymore.
But it's a good example how sensation can partially (or completely)
make up for lack of quality - that's what we call hype, and that's what made it sell,
and apparently it did so till now..

Just DL it from somewhere, it's abandoned ware now.

Even though Postal 2 can be disgusting at times, the violence and the setting are so much over the top you cant really take it serious.
