Who played this back when it was new?

I never played it. Never really looked into it at all, actually. But I'm curious if it's worth a look someday. Oddly enough, you can still get it NEW on PS2 as a greatest hits for $12.48 on Amazon . I also know there was a sequel which doesn't seem to be as highly rated.

Being under Rockstar's Banner not sure if it'll come here any time soon, but not impossible in the long-term. There was a PC port after all.

"Originally scheduled for North American and European release in July, the game was suspended by Rockstar's parent company Take-Two Interactive when it was refused classification in the United Kingdom, Italy and Ireland, and given an Adults Only (AO) rating in the United States.[3] As neither Sony, Microsoft nor Nintendo allow AO titles on their systems, this effectively meant the game would have been banned in the US.[4] In response to these ratings problems, Rockstar edited the game, blurring the screen during the game's executions and removing the scoring system, where players were awarded for particularly brutal killings.[5] This edited version was given an M rating in the US by the ESRB and was released on October 29.[1][6] However, the BBFC still refused to classify the edited version for UK release. Steam sell Manhunt 1 but not 2 (not HERE anyway - I would be interested to know if any other territories get it...)

Ignoramus: I played it on PC when it came out, and it was probably the most boring game I had ever played. And it is certainly the worst game I've ever payed over 50€ for. The gameplay is extremely repetitive, it's just "sneak behind an opponent, press a button, watch a cut-scene", over and over again. Unless animated violence gives you a hard-on, there's really no reason to play Manhunt.

johnki: I found it to be dull and a bit disturbing at the same time. Pretty much the entire first level is about learning how to sneak up on people and suffocate them with bags, beating them in the face optional, so that you don't have to fist fight with them.
