People are basically forced to come up with a GOOD freemium model at some point once consumers figure out that alot of freemium games are rubbish.

Sony will be out of business.

Nintendo and Microsoft will still be around.

Both the Windows and Mac platforms will be locked down. Linux will still be around.

Google will be largely irrelevant, much like Yahoo today.

Home consoles will be no more in the traditional sense. People will just use their phone or other small touch screen devices for games, music, movies, ect.

America's national broadband network will still suck.

Samsung will rise up as a dominant player in the home entertainment market, which will include gaming.

I can see Nintendo still being around, but I think they'll basically be confined to handhelds in 10 years.

Not that much hate in video game companies oh yeah there were fuck up moments by EA and others but it was not Constant and everywhere.

Now one single mention of said company and people spew vitoral.

Everyone hates Nintendo, everyone hates Activision, everyone hates Ubisoft, everyone hates EA, everyone hates Capcom, everyone almost hates Konami, (people here) does not like Valve, everyone does not like Crytek, people don't like Epic games and Id Software, everyone hates Bioware now, Everyone hates Blizzard, Now people are starting to not like DICE anymore because of their recent handling of Battlefield and almost refusal of making a Mirror's Edge 2.

Though of course the hate is not completely unwarrented there are things that deserves the hate, but I still miss the days where we just we just play games and not going in forums complaining :(

I hated Sony back then too :P From reading about them trying to keep 2d games from being released in the west because they felt they weren't good enough. The one that really did it was reading Mega Man X4 was only allowed to be released after Capcom threatened to put Resident Evil 2 on the Saturn. Then later on in the PS2 years, SNK had a lot of problems getting their games released so they made xbox ports instead.

Thanks to that I got a Saturn when they were being clearenced out, then went Dreamcast, Xbox, 360 for my systems.

I was PISSED when I learned Shigeru Miyamoto killed Dinosaur Planet (and arguably, the Star Fox series) by creating Star Fox Adventures.

1 Sony in general will be kaput.

2 Microsoft will be around in the living room. Nintendo will be mainly a handheld company like mentioned earlier in the thread.

3 Linux will have a bit more support. Windows may not be totally locked down, but I see Apple trying a move like that first on the desktop. People will go along with it so Microsoft will think "We should copy that!"

4 Most of their services will still be around, but more popular alternatives will spring up. Much like how Yahoo still does search, mail, ect, but are now just kinda there.

5 I see lots of bullshit like kinect and wiimote ripoffs in the future. I'm sure there will still be controllers somewhere, but other types of input like voice and movement will be more popular and useful than today.

6 I have little faith in the government to make a plan for a broadband system work right.

7. Through them having popular TVs, tablets and phones. I think Android will still be around and fairly popular. (Yes I realize this means Google wouldn't be that irrelevant.). Their biggest competitor in the tablet/phone market will still be Apple, as Apple has too much cash on hand to be gone within 10 years. It would take a near impossible amount of bad screw-ups to burn through all that money.

In the next 10 to 20 years the computer will take over and, after killing all the cryo-scientist, will toss one of us out into space and then promptly refuse to open the pod bay doors for whomever is still alive.
