tapeworm00: I just saw it yesterday. It's a decent movie, but don't expect anything great. Then again, I didn't think Batman Begins was amazing either (which lots of people did), although Dark Knight was a high point in superhero movies for me, so I'm hoping the second Superman movie could be a similar case. In short: it's ok.

tinyE: How is Michael Shannon/Zod? A good baddie can make or break a movie.
I thought he was pretty good - not super memorable, but he does act Zod as a very rational, very committed villain, which puts him at odds with the whole 'faith in humanity' thing that Superman has going on, so I thought it was a very good match in terms that aren't strictly 'good vs evil'. And he does seem pretty strange in comparison to the rest of the characters, which also fits very well. His subordinates, for example, don't come off as 'alien' as he does... they're acted in more straightforward villainy ways. He's no Joker (or even Bane, perhaps), but he's good.

I barely know anything about Superman. What are his plenty of flaws and weaknesses ?

Kryptonite. =P Seriously, that's the only thing I can think of. Well, that and Lois Lane.

keeveek: Maybe I'm a special case, because I'm a total TV series freak. I'm used to "live" with characters for DOZENS of hours. I can't feel emotionally invested in a movie that lasts less than 2 episodes of my shows.
Same here, only replace TV series for 500+ page books. I just can't take movies seriously, they're over by the time I'm thinking of getting into them. That's why I'll only watch this movie if when I'm home friends invite me to go with them, like it happened with the avengers. It's far more about hanging out with friends than actually watching the movie.

anjohl: 1) DC movies don't work out, unless they are Batman movies directed by Christopher Nolan that have Liam Neeson in them.

2) If Warner has no faith in the last reboot, why should we have faith in this one?

3) Superman is an inherently uninsteresting character. A protagonist needs flaws, weaknesses, and to be relatable. Superman is none of these.

Ric1987: #3 tells me you barely know anything about Superman. He has plenty of flaws and weaknesses. And he's every bit as relatable as Batman. I have the same of chance of getting godlike powers from the sun as I do gaining billions of dollars to fund my crime fighting.
I know enough to know that as a protagonist, he fails miserably, for the same reasons that Hulk does.
So anyone seen the movie yet?

Elmofongo: So anyone seen the movie yet?
I did give you my review. Basically, on a scale between Iron Man 3 and The Dark Knight Rises, it's closer to the Dark Knight Rises, but is hampered by at least a few dumb scenes.

The villain Zod is played well, I think. He is driven by a reasonable purpose, which is at least more than the bad guy from Iron Man 3.

And for weaknesses, isn't Magic one of them?

I just hate origin movies. I know most of the famous origins already, so I wish they'd get into the action fast.

Well I do mean anyone else, since I am going to the theater today to see it.

I already saw the very first Superman film on TV and I thought it was cheesy :P

And this is was also the first time I saw how really overpowere Superman is, and that was before I saw the Goku vs Superman death battle. Rotating the earth backwards to reverse time :P
To quote my geek friend off her post about it:
" There were parts I like and parts I adamantly hated. The parts I hated happened to be more frequent."

Just don't go in with crazy high expectations and enjoy the action scenes :)
I just got back from seeing it. Oh my God. This film was just incredible. Absolutely stunning.

Lucky, I could not see it because the theater was full :(

I went all the way to the theater only to find out its full, that rarely happens to me.

I showed up extra early to this new theater complex about 40 minutes away. I got to see it on a gigantic screen with an absolutely kick-ass sound system (the bass was literally shaking me). Hope you get to see it soon, I don't think you'll be disappointed.
